SOTW themes you'd like to see

Abstract.. Photomanipulation.. Freestyle..

Those are some good ones you might wanna do on the next SotW, or at least soon.

Can you explain abstract and photo manipulation? >.<

Is abstract something, like, no focus? No render, focal point?

And is photo manipulation for real life images? What's the criteria for something to be considered manipulated? Just simple blending, or more?

Abstract would be an image without a character, person, or anything really that pertains to real life. There could be a focal point, but you never really know with abstract lol. Abstract is just that; abstract XD

For Photomanipulation, yes, real life images. I suggest you give an image to manipulate, give it a theme to manipulate it to, and start there. Criteria would probably be.. change the picture enough to make it so it isn't the same as the original image. Themes shouldn't be too specific though, you want people to be creative, and you want variety between entries too. If you picked a picture of a castle or something, then made the theme "flowers".. you can't really do a whole lot with a castle, and flowers that would be different than all the others. Well, you can, but it would be mostly all the same. Basically, pick themes that cover alot of bases. Also, if you do photomanipulation at some point, make sure the image you pick isn't blurry XD

However, Photomanipulation is kindof a hard theme, so maybe that one can wait.. lol.

Gaming. Maybe Genre of Gaming....Like...RPG, 1st person shooter, ect.

Anime/Manga: Girls, boys, cats. Specific Anime/Manga like, Ouran Host club, Naruto, or my person favorite, Cowboy Bebop

Music: Could be by Genre, ie: Rock, Rap, Opera. or Freestyle.

Colors: Red, Blues, yellows, ect.

Actors: Specific or even in a particular movie.

CPU: Apple, Microsoft, ect

Forum Staff: Contra, Cassanova, Ect.

Forum Members: Harsh, Sephroth, ect*

Ethnicity: Asian, European, African, Indian, Native American, African American ect.

Just some ideas.

* We should do members on there birthday week. That would be kool!!

I wanna say not likely to forum members and staff because we'd have to find out who is comfortable with letting people mess around with their real life image for SOTW. And unlikely, but people could just do something in bad taste that could upset the real person.

I can't remember ever seeing a SOTW theme about a specific ethnicity, and I think it's because people would feel uncomfortable actually doing the theme if it's for an ethnicity they aren't actually part of because they could be accused of stereotyping something in their sig. It just feels like it can open up to a lot sensitive issues, so I rather stay away from that.

As for birthdays, just me personally I would rather avoid. A birthday happens on one day in the year. If we devote 2 weeks to someone's birthday, it just seems unecessary. And I'm sure there are a lot of birthdays that will fall in the middle week, so it wouldn't be fair to just pick and choose whose birthday we do for a theme, you know?
