SOTW themes you'd like to see

Alright, apparently us staffers ourselves aren't very in touch with you members who participate in SOTWs. The last few SOTWs have seen a really low turn out in entries, so I'll leave it to you guys:

What themes would you like to do in SOTW?

I'll edit this post with a list of themes that have been done in SOTW here on RSF thus far, so please give us some input on what you'd like to see ^^

You don't give yourselves enough credit. The themes have been very good thusfar, and I was only unable to participate due to a lack of time to commit to photoshop this week. I've been very busy trying to get all kinds of other stuff done!

I don't know about any specific themes, but you could try mixing in stuff like making people use a certain stock image or render, or a specific colour palette. Instead of a signature you could ask people to make avatars, or better yet, avy+sig sets that match eachother.

You might consider a contest of animated gifs (either themed or unthemed) or instead of signatures, make people do splash images/banners.

If you want to profit from it in another way, you could also have people design a new forum banner, and the winning entry gets mixed in with the current ones.

You could even make this a bimonthly/quarterly thing or something.

you can also do a free style one people do w/e ever they want.

@Aleister: I like those ideas and they'll definitely be something worth looking into, but SOTW is sort of specifically for signature style pieces xD

If you want a lot of entries try more general themes.
Such as
abstract
grunge
animals(already done)
video game characters
settings
photomanipulation

themes like those which leave open a lot of options.

I won't lie, I don't understand what you mean by a grunge style

Can you give a concrete example? Or is it something more up to interpretation? And if that's the case, it might not do too well as a theme since I might have to reject entries then D=

I don't know why I didn't think of this before. If you really REALLY want to challenge the community, I have two ideas.

Scratch sigs, no c4d, no premade background, no renders, all self-skill.

You supply the render and have people work with what you pick.

there are other works of Grunge this is the first thing that Poped up tho :P

@nitsuku: Pre-chosen renders can work well, just not what you mean by the other stuff.

Banning C4Ds would be hard to detect can there are actual C4D brushes out there, and people can just blend and mess around with the C4D itself.

As well, pre-made backgrounds would be hard to detect too; whose to say someone doesn't find a nice scratchy background and claim they used masking brushed to make the effect? Dx

Apparently I misunderstood what you meant by Grunge. I thought we were referring to the Genre of Music. Shows how much of a music nerd I am.

Simple, ask for PSD files included in the entry, guranteed no ripping there.
