Desert Punk (砂ぼうず ,Sunabōzu) is a post-apocalyptic manga series written and illustrated by Usune Masatoshi, serialized in Enterbrain's Comic Beam since 1997. The published chapters have been collected in 13 volumes.
The manga was adapted into a 24-episode anime television series produced by Gonzo and directed by Takayuki Inagaki with character designs by Takahiro Yoshimatsu and music by Kohei Tanaka. FUNimation has licensed the series for distribution in the United States.
After an implied nuclear catastrophe, like many other countries, Japan has been reduced to a desert and the surviving humans seek out a meager living in the hot sands. Desert Punk focuses on the adventures of a desert handyman called Kanta Mizuno, nicknamed Desert Punk (Sunabōzu), due to his seemingly incredible feats of skill and daring while on the job. Throughout the series, he acquires an apprentice and makes a few friends as well as enemies.
I've seen a few episodes of this about a year ago. It was some pretty funny stuff, as far as I can remember. XD
This was one anime in which I preferred the English dub over the original Japanese voice, just because it was funnier that way. I can't remember why I stopped watching this. I might check it out again sometime soon.
My fiance watched it and absolutely loved it 'cause it was really funny, according to him. XD I might check it out soon after I finish with the ones I'm working on now ^.^
You know, I'd started watching this show a few months ago, and it wasn't bad, I just couldn't get around to finishing it. But then, I might have been watching a million things at once, per usual. But yeah, it wasn't bad. I'm not too big on comedies, but it was entertaining.
It wasn't bad, as has been said, but I wasn't interested in dedicating time to it to watch more than the first couple of episodes. The characters weren't what I was interested in, and it just felt like it wasn't going to really go anywhere. I can see how it would be an appealing anime to some, but it wasn't for me.
