What was the last book you finished? What did you think of it, why did you pick it up? Would you recommend it to the rest of us?

Turn Coat by Jim Butcher. It's the eleventh installment in a contemporary fantasy series called The Dresden Files. Awesome freakin' series, might I add.
The last book I finished was A Time To Kill. As long as you can handle the word "Nigger" repeatedly, then you'll be fine. It's a very engaging story.
The last book I gave the 'finish' treatment to was Snow Crash, by Neal Stephenson.
Good ol' cyberpunk mixed with silly dystopian settings.
The main characters name is Hiro Protagonist.
Not making that up.
I cannot be any clearer.
Take from this what you will, and please feel free to counter anything I have said with some opinions of your own. Which would strictly probably almost be an accepted algorithm essential to the construct and maintenance of a proper discussion.
Just throwing that out there.

No, it is one hundred pear-scent serious.
It is humorous, however, and I suppose you could mistake that for parody at some parts, but overall it spins a very enticing web.

It's not, but it does contain some elements that parody society and a bunch of other things. But aside from that, like Shuya said, it's a fairly "serious" story, with some comedic elements sprinkled here and there. It's a great read. Essential for any Cyberpunk fan.
Well, those are two recommendations I trust so when I finish the billion unread books I have now I'll have to borrow that from Shuya.
It's technically a book, so, here goes. The Runaways Vol. 8. After being lead on for about 2 years, they've finally released the 8th addition to the graphic novel series; BUT, I'm disappointed!!! It's like, the past events had little to no relevance to now. Now that Brian K. Vaughn and Joss Whedon left the staff, it's not that great anymore..
Well, that's it on my end. Up next, "The Magician" and "The Alchemist" by Micheal Scott.
Guitar Bible xD I classify this as a book as it has words in it and the story is beginner to expert xD lololololol i'll fight anyone who disagrees's

Just finished Trickster's Queen by Tamora Pierce for the 11th time. Love that book. Could read it again. Its a YA book but i reccomend it to anyone. Before you read it, read Trickster Choice. Thats the first book.
I bought a teen novel at the thrift store in Florida, it turned out to be amazingly awesome and humourous. It's called Girl, 13, Charming But Insane. It's about a girl named Jess with a flat chest, some "deformities" she believes she has, the most gorgeous girl in her school as her best friend, and the Brad Pitt lookalike as her secret crush.
There isn't really a certain plot in it, just how Jess is failing to get Ben Jones [the Brad Pitt dude] and she bumps into surprising events and drama.
The end is just lovely. 8D

You know... this is going to seem bad, but I half-expected this thread to bust. LOL. That is terrible, but I ain't used to people actually reading something beyond role-play or text dialog in a game.
The last book I read was 'Lord Of The Flies'. I read it for a summer reading project I had to do in school this year. It was an enticing story, but that's probably because I enjoy books that have psychological undertones to them. I'm pretty sure most people have read this before, if they haven't then I think they should if they enjoy books that explore the human mind and the darkness that lies in it
It's painful, the pain has already broken the illusion of our hopes and dreams
On the line between reality and ideals
It hurts, the pain has already brought to mind traces from the corners of our hearts
Of the reality we took on on that day
The last book I read was Blood of Amber by Zelazny. I highly recommend that you should read the Amber series by him... We're almost done now and it's epic. If you're gonna do it though, do it from The Great Book of Amber. So much simpler to have all ten in one book...
