LOL Yeah, those are some essential episodes for getting drawn into the story. I was wondering why the hell Kendra was like "Make sure you watch up to episode 18!" And I have to say that it paid off, man. It was a twist that I wasn't really expecting.

Oh man, I'll never forget the heart-wrenching cry I let out during Episode 18.

It's not the settings that matter, it's the characters, and aside from Eugenie not being a lesbian, they did all of that quite well.

So quit yer whinin' and watch it, already!

I love the scandal and violence. This is a very mature anime.

Man, it's just gorgeous. I love it. It's great to see other people who like it as much as I do. So, I watched it a few years ago and I was amazed. xD I loved it so much, I went out and bought the box set.

It's my absolute favorite anime of all time. So beautiful! I'm probably going to have to watch it again when I have the time.

You know, now that I think about it, I think this show might be considered Seinen. I don't think I spotted any shonen tropes in the series at all.

I'm glad you liked it! It's truly one of those 'rare gems' sort of animes. It's not really like any other, and it's a great experience from the very first episode up until the end.

So, how bad did you freak out on Episode 18? xD I always ask everyone this, lol. Be sure to use spoiler tags!

Also, if you liked that show, you should give Samurai 7 and Last Exile a whirl as well, as they're two other awesome Gonzo Animes.

OK, I'm stumped. Remember I said I missed a few episodes?

I'm absolutely CERTAIN I never changed my folder. I still have the same amount of files in that folder. No folders have been added, yet for some reason there are now episodes in the folder that I don't know that I cannot but assume are the missing episodes.

I really do have NO CLUE WHATSOEVER where these things came from. :S

But I'm not complaining, I'm finishing this anime ASAP!

You better finish it! And why not look up an Episode List online to make sure you're watching them all in the right order?

You know, I have all of the Japanese episodes with English subs on my computer, but I haven't gone beyond the first 3 episodes just yet >_>

I figure this has to be something you watch with full attention without large gaps. Even now I know I'll probably have to start all over again >.<

If nothing else, the visuals really are stimulating. Not sure what exactly it is that they've done, but it's pretty darn kewl =D
Hi, sorry about my lacking presence at RSF. I got busy with my off-line life, and though it's settled a bit, there's not much to do here without people posting (which is kind of my fault >.<)

If you do wanna make contact, here are some ways:

Just finished those last episodes I missed in one go...

    ...

    ...

    Speechless.

    Epic.

I'm so, so glad I watched this series.

    *Hugs close.*

Welcome... welcome to the world of awesomeness.

It's funny, I haven't met a single person whose watched that series all the way through and NOT like it. Dare I say Gankutsuou is on par with Cowboy Bebop!

I love that second-to-last episode (ep. 23?). The music and everything that happens is just so awesome! I'm really impressed with this series.

And I never saw this Cowboy Bebop thing... my ex mentioned it once I think, but other than that I have no clue.

Watch it! I actually prefer the English version to the Japanese one, but Gankutsuou is Gankutsuou! Let us know once you've watched more of it!

And, yeah, you've gotta watch it at the same time. It's very involved.

Haha, glad you're liking it! I knew it was something that'd be totally up your alley.

I've actually met people who didn't like it, but their reasons for not liking it were kind of...lacking.

I think Gankutsuou is better than Cowboy Bebop. =/ Cowboy Bebop was a great anime, but it's underlying plot really only transpired over about...3 episodes. Everything else was just a Trigun-styled mini-mission sort of story-telling. Gankutsuou is all plot, all story, from beginning to end. Every character matters, and there's no fillers at all.

But to be fair, they're two VERY different animes. Cowboy Bebop is more of an action Anime, and Gankutsuou is a drama one. It's too different to really compare.

I'm trying to remember Episode 23. I know lots of crazy stuff goes down.

And, I LOVED the Courtroom Scene. Andrea Cavalcanti is such a wonderfully wicked and disturbed character. I take a lot of inspiration from him for my villains.

Cowboy Bebop is another anime that you must watch, or you will get your nerd license revoked. LOL. It's a tad more action oriented, and a bit more episodic than Gankutusuo, but the characters are very well developed and fleshed out. There are hints of an overarching plot throughout the series, but they're arguably unnoticable, and it doesn't really kick up until like the last five episodes or so. But a lot of the underlying theme pretty much deals with existentialism, but does a great job at not getting too melodramatic with it. It's really freakin' awesome.

    That, and Samurai Champloo.

I never seen Cowboy Bebop. I keep trying to watch Escaflowne but i keep falling asleep. But Gankutsuou was ace. I think my favorite character was Haydee, also Franz, wait am i spoiling?

  20. #60
Nah, I don't think you spoiled anything. Anyone that hadn't seen it before will have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and it pretty much has no bearing on the story, so you're good, love. LOL.

And you ain't the only one that falls asleep on Escaflowne.
