    Favorite Asian Films

There are a lot of really great Asian movies out there, and this is the thread where we list and talk about our favorites!

    This is my list:
    -Oldboy
    -Battle Royale
    -Ichi The Killer
    -Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
    -Death Trance
    -Suicide Club
    -Versus

Just about all of these movies were well stylized, had great action scenes, or epic storylines. The Korean movies like Oldboy and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance [by the same Director], have just incredible storylines to them. These are definitely some of my favorites.

So, there's my list, what's yours?

The only real Asian movies I've seen were South-Asian; i.e. Bollywood Hindi movies, so I'm sure you're not asking about those :P

I do remember watching this one movie a while back. I think it was a Korean movie called Volcano High. Kind of like a typical shounen type genre with a splash of unnatural "powaz" done in live action. It wasn't a deep, serious movie, but I really liked it.
Hi, sorry about my lacking presence at RSF. I got busy with my off-line life, and though it's settled a bit, there's not much to do here without people posting (which is kind of my fault >.<)

    Let's see...

    Curse of the Golden Flower.
    Ip Man
    Master Killer
    Fulltime Killer
    Oldboy
    Warlords
And... I think that's it, off the top of my head, anyway.

Kungfu hustle is by far the best and my most favourite asian film I have seen the story takes a bit of figuring out but the gags etc are hilarious and suits my kind of comedy completly as i like something that is easy to laugh at.

Kendra, if you liked Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance I think you will like Lady Vengeance. It's an awesome movie. :]

But here's a list of the movies that I like that I can remember at the moment:
    Oldboy
    Lady Vengeance
    Suicide Club
2LDK(Cheesy and bloody. The movie was made in like 9 days haha)
    Ab-normal Beauty(super creepy)
Save The Green Planet(weird as hell)
Audition(Hella long but so worth it at the end)
    Princess Aurora (Super Sad)
Dumplings (sick, sick movie but I love it)

There's two movies that I really liked but I can't remember the titles for the life of me.
One was about a lady whose boyfriend left her and wrote her a note saying that he was getting plastic surgery and he wanted her to try and find him again. Then she gets plastic surgery and becomes kinda obsessed with the idea of it and finding him. Then towards the end she thinks she finds her boyfriend but he runs off and gets hit by a car and the car ran over his face so she couldn't identify him. It's a really strange movie but I liked it a lot.

Then the other one is about 4 Korean soldiers who are on the opposites sides. They work at the military posts that border the line that divides the country. But at night they sneak out and meet up in this little shack and they hang out and get to know each other and become friends. Then something goes wrong and one of the soldiers shoots another one and kills him. The remaining three are interrogated by the government but two of them are so overcome by guilt that they kill themselves. It's a really interesting and sad movie but I can't remember the name D:

I used to watch the Sundance channel every Sunday because they have Extreme Asia Cinema. They usually play Japanese horror films but sometimes a really good one comes along. :]

    Lessee:
    Battle Royale
    Riki-Oh:The Story Of Ricky
    Yojimbo
    Seven Samurai
    Red Room (how silly)
I'm a Cyborg But That's OK (so cute)

There are the classic Bruce Lee films, as well.
I like Volcano High, especially how in the American version, most voices are done by popular rap artists like Snoop Dogg, Method Man, Lil' Jon, Big Boi, and Mưa.
Kind of silly, the American version, so I prefer the Korean version.
    I cannot be any clearer.
Take from this what you will, and please feel free to counter anything I have said with some opinions of your own. Which would strictly probably almost be an accepted algorithm essential to the construct and maintenance of a proper discussion.
    Just throwing that out there.

    Oldboy. Done.

But, no. I also like Ringu. And I haven't seen the Japanese version of The Grudge, but the American adaption was surprisingly faithful, from what I hear.

OMG!!! Flashpoint is the movie. Collin Chow is in it too. He played as Seraph in the Matrix and The Jade Emporer in Forbidden Kingdom, and Yuan Jia father in Fearless.

I haven't heard of a lot of these! I'll definitely have to see what's available to me via Netflix's library. They tend to be pretty generous when it comes to foreign films. I likely need to update my list a bit, too.

And, I added Audition onto my Netflix Instant Viewing, so I'll be sure to watch that one. Ichi the Killer, though super weird, was immensely enjoyable. So, I have high hopes for Audition. xD
