Guidelines for the OOC

Hey gang, just wanted to let you know what this area is for!

Really it all comes down to prefixes. We'll be adding more of these as we grow and we'll be adding forums too as necessary. But for now we just want to keep things general.

Use the prefixes to let people know what you've got, be it an RP Battle or a fresh new sci-fi role play, or even just an interest check to figure out what people might WANT to RP.

I also suggest using this for any Character Profiles you want to post up. To do so, simply select the purpose of the character (RPB or RP) from the prefixes and copy/paste your Bio into the message section. Pretty easy stuff!

Use the Misc prefix for whatever else you feel like adding. For now that's all.

I'll be periodically using this for updates and changes (big shocker) to the RP section. This is also the place where you can ask for changes and updates too...we're always willing to hear suggestions from our members.

Today's update : I've added the prefix 'RP Profile' this will be an excellent place for you to post up your Profiles (no rubric required) for your battles and RPs! Enjoy!

Can I ask that we make a thread to be stuck that contains all abbreviations and jargon used commonly used by seasoned RPers that would be unknown to novice RPers like, for instance, moi. xD

It's just, a little off-putting when a group of people are talking about something using abbreviations and I'm like

and can't join in. D;

I think it will be very helpful if you could do this and would encourage newcomers to join in more. =]

Good Suggestion! I'll gladly try this. Forgive me if I don't know which ones you might want...I've long since read the acronyms as the full words XD

A quick list of Abbreviations (thanks for the idea John!)

RP - Role Play, this one's pretty standard. The process of joint-writing where players control the actions, thoughts and dialogue of one or more characters exclusively.

RPer - a Role Player, someone who acts in an RP

Char(s) - short for character or characters.

Bio - short for biography usually used as a title for a template

IC - In Character, or posts that involve dialogue, actions and thoughts of your character. These posts are supposed to be like reading a story.

OOC - Out Of Character, posts that aren't part of the story. Usually these are exclusive to a specific area and they are intended to just be a back and forth discussion to help the story plot along.

RPB - Role Play Battle, this is a specific kind of RP that rpers go into depth about their characters actions explaining how movements and intentions for the purpose of fighting with other RPers.

RPBer - Role Play Battler, one who RPBs. XD

Mun - The RPer, themselves. Example: The Mun = Chris.

That's all I can think of! Anyone with any other acronyms let me know and I'll add them up!

Awesome, now I know what OCC and IC mean. xD

I can't think of any that you may have missed out, or ones that I really want to know right now, so I'll post again if I can think of any more.
