    Crimson Carnelian [Nimble/Jack vs. Ember]

    Rules: Standard

A petite, ragged girl and a monkey walked briskly past the roving crowd in the robust mall. The little girl carried an ornate little music box. Some stopped and openly stared at the odd sight. Some people were not alarmed, however. This duo sometimes performed. In fact, the child and the monkey had just finished a performance. They wanted to put the crowd at ease... they scheduled this performance far in advance. It was all part of their plan.

Nimble and Jack Rocancourt were as unique as they appeared. They both possessed an unusual level of awareness and intelligence. However to the world they seemed to be decrepit, pathetic beings with no ability to fend for themselves. Naturally Nimble fed off of this image and turned it into money. Jack tugged on Nimble's tattered pant leg to get her attention. She irritably turned to him. What? she signed. The two of them communicated with a signed language. It was the most logical type of language for them to use... Jack couldn't be bothered with mimicing human voices and Nimble was Deaf.

Can we go into Verizon first and get a set of Blackbery phones? Jack asked.

Of course not, Nimble said dismissively. We need to get to the Carnelian Heart NOW.

Jack sighed. He had a bad feeling about this mission. It was much too risky. The two of them entered Gordon's Jewelers. Nimble had a note prepared for the retail clerk. She walked briskly to the clerk and handed her a note. Puzzled, the clerk took the note and read it. Her expression changed to even deeper puzzlement as she pointed to an area near the back of the store.

Nimble looked in the direction the clerk was pointing. She jumped in surprise. There it was! The Carnelian Heart! It was exquisite... It had not yet been carved or polished, yet it shone with its own unhewn beauty. Most people had no clue as to its real significance... it was rumored that the Carnelian Heart gave the wielder the power of fire. Nimble wasn't quite sure what that meant, but that made it quite valuable. Nimble had to have it.

Another store clerk had the item in her hand. She was bringing it toward them... But Nimble already knew the store clerk was likely bringing it to someone else. The retail clerk, perhaps? Nimble looked up. A cloaked figure was standing next to them. Nimble couldn't see much else... but she had a very unpleasant feeling. It was very similar to the feeling that preceded the terror of the body's fight or flight response. It was instinct. Something was wrong with their plans... and this cloaked person had something to do with it. It was time for a change of plans... time to do things the hard way.

Nimble clicked low in her throat to get Jack's attention. Jack looked at her hurriedly signed instructions and followed. He "tripped" and fell into the clerk. The clerk was not accustomed to stumbling over a small monkey. She fell forward. Nimble rushed over to him. He had taken the opportunity to secure the Carnelian Heart during the clerk's fall... but they only had mere seconds to make their break before the clerk realized it was stolen. Nimble picked up Jack in a show of concern and made her way toward the door. The foreboding feeling she had grew stronger. Please, let me be overreacting... Nimble thought to herself. Nimble did not understand what was triggering her fear, but she continued to make a break for it.

She couldn't believe she had finally found it, she'd be looking for it for a long time now, and it was finally now near her grasp. After numerous travels it turned out that the "Crimson Carnelian" was in a simple store. A jewelry to be precise.

She grabbed her cloak and put the hood on as she couldn't be seen or at least recognized as she is a wanted criminal, Ember "mistress of the flames" as the media called her for her weak but unnatural ability to control flames.

She entered the mall, her cloak attracting several looks of wonder as people stared at her, paying no attention she hurried as she could be recognized any time soon. She found the place her research had gathered "Gordon's Jewelers" she slowly opened the door noticing the store was empty except for the attendant.

She got to the table and asked rather quickly "do you have the crimson carnelian?" the clerk surprised replied "no, miss" and quickly tried to get too the back of the store, before he could though Ember grabbed him by the back of his shirt and pulled the hood of her face, a grim smirk on her face.

"Do you have the crimson carnelian?" she asked again with a menacing one to her voice. "Ah...Ahh...Ahhhhhhh! it's you!" yelled the shopkeeper scared. "Me?" Who's me exactly? asked Ember joking.
"That dangerous girl they keep mentioning on the news" he answered scared. "Well...since you know so much about me...why don't you go look for the crimson carnelian?" Ember ordered igniting her hand letting go of him. "su...sure" and the clerk ran to the back of the store. Ember smiled as she put the hood back on as another clerk came to the table.

After a few minutes of waiting the door opened alarming Ember, she noticed it was just a small girl with a monkey, the girl walked to the counter and handed a note to the new clerk, Ember payed minimum attention to it as she waited for her package.
finally the clerk showed up with the huge stone in his hands, it was bright and beautiful making ember's and the girl's eyes shine as it entered the room.
Then suddenly the monkey tripped and the girl rushed in to grab him.

    Or so it seemed....

I'm soooooo sorry Nami....college's being a load of work.

Nimble's mind raced as she tried to think clearly. Millions of questions and options flooded her mind. Nimble ran for the door. Unfortunately, the store clerk had recovered quickly. The clerk grabbed Nimble's ankle. Nimble swore to herself and stumbled. She struggled with her balance until she lost the battle and toppled over. She let go of Jack. Jack landed more comfortably than Nimble. He hit the ground on his feet and readied his bag of tricks. He put the Carnelian Heart inside of his backpack.

Things were getting bad. Nimble needed a diversion. She reached out to grab something... anything that could help. She flailed her arms around until her hands brushed against cloth. She grabbed the cloth and pulled hard. It shifted, but it didn't give. Nimble looked up to see what the problem was. Wait... this was a jewelry store, not a clothing store. Nimble suddenly got a cold chill down her spine as she thought about where she was flailing her arms. She looked up... and realized that she had been tugging on the cloak of the unpleasant hooded figure. For a brief moment, Nimble could see a bit of the person's features... a woman? Nimble did not have time to dwell on the figure. Things had just went from bad to worse in seconds. Nimble locked eyes with Jack. It was party time.

Jack bolted through the door first, backpack in hand. Nimble scrambled to her feet and followed. Together the duo left the store as quickly as they could. Nimble's thoughts raced. She had not heard the conversation the clerks had with the cloaked stranger and Jack didn't have enough time to tell her what was said. That face... looked awfully familiar...

Nimble caught up with Jack in the large vestibule that joined the hallways. The crowd didn't know what was going on, but some had the foreboding that something wasn't quite right. The crowd thinned and Jack and Nimble took a moment to regroup. Jack hurriedly told Nimble who the cloaked woman was. Nimble froze with understanding. To Nimble's horror, the woman left Gordon's Jewelers as well. She looked directly at them with eyes Nimble felt were full of malice.

Ember looked astonished as her cloak fell of her. "not now...people must not know I'm here...especially her" Ember thought.
As the monkey and girl dashed out of the store Ember looked back at where the Carnelian Heart used to be and noticing it was gone, she screamed in anger letting a few flames fly out of her hands in anger.(burning the cloak in the process)

Ember slammed open the door of the jewelry and glanced at both sites looking for the little thieves, as people looked at her in fear, finally she caught a glimps of her "targets and she started making a fireball in her hands as she ran towards the pair.
"How dare you!" she yelled as she shot the fireball towards the frightened pair.

Nimble looked on in shock while Jack looked on in fear. Nimble's initial fear had ebbed down. The two of them dodged the flames that were angrily hurled at them moments before. Now the crowd went wild. People scurried as quickly as possible to get out of harm's way. Shouts of "Fire!" filled the air. Panic ensued. Thankfully, the flow of panic seemed to flow away from them and toward the exits. Jack yelped painfully. A patch of his hair had ignited when the ball of flames grazed his arm. He quickly patted out the fire.

Nimble's fear had turned to shock. Now it slowly turned into irrational anger. This bitch... just flung a FIREBALL at me, Nimble thought. Jack glanced over at her. When Jack saw Nimble, he couldn't help but to sigh. Nimble was getting angry. Jack had known no other child with temper tantrums as bad as Nimble's. Jack's fear slowly quelled into a familiar despair. He knew no good could possibly come from Nimble's anger.

Jack furiously tried to think of a way to stop Nimble... but it was too late. Eat this, bitch! Nimble signed one-handedly as she reached for her own bag of tricks. Nimble took out two throwing knives with one hand. She quickly grabbed one of the knives with her signing right hand and tossed both toward the woman. One knife flew toward the woman's forehead with deadly precision. The other knife flew toward the woman's torso. Jack swore to himself and he sobbed inwardly. He braced himself for what was next. In one hand he held his backpack, his bag of tricks. In the other hand he held two vials.

Nimble's eyes were nearly ablaze as she stared angrily back at the woman of flames and wrath. She watched her knives intently. She had thrown them with intent to kill.

Ember walked towards the pair as the panicked people ran towards the nearby exists, thinking "how dare they steal my prize...", smiling seeing as the monkey got his hair caught on fire.

The knives flew through the air with deadly and accurate precision towards Ember which she swiftly dodged by sidestepping, the knife flying through the air scratching her cheek leaving a small mark from which blood started trickling down her cheek.

A wicked smile appeared on Ember's face as she felt her warm blood fall on her as she cleaned it with her right hand as she made a new fireball on her left, then she addressed the pair "So...you two want to play?" she said as she threw the fireball at Nimble and dashed towards the pair of thieves.

I apologize, BirriaDS. That was a long wait only for there to be no conclusion

Your RP ability, however, is phenomenal in the meantime

Edit: Ooh, a conclusion is nigh?

    *starts preparing a slideshow*

It won't be as good as I don't know the full skills of Jack and Nimble....zomg after all this time and I still remember...anyways, I'll do my best to impress Nami sensei ^^

*The fireball collides against a wall, the fireball being mostly magical and thus having a concussive force, blasts open a hole in the mall while igniting the decoration fabrics that were close by* "What the....?!" Nimble thought as the wall fell apart. "That...that was no normal fireball" Jack and Nimble thought at the same time, amused and scared, this was obviously not a normal foe.

*Ember closed in to the small yet clever and brave pair, who immediately ran in separate ways, Jack swiftly grabbing a few small objects from Nimble's Bag of tricks. Ember chased after the little girl* "Now...if you were so kind to give that jewel back to me I won't have to use more...drastic measures" Ember said, her voice calmed yet dangerous, parts of the mall falling apart due to the shocks of being hit by the fireballs. "Huh? what jewel miss?"Nimble asked smugly, her left hand searching for a small bag filled with powder as she stumbled back against a wall.
"I should just blast this little punk to smithereens once she gives me back the Crimson Carnelian..." Ember gleefully thought as she saw the small girl pull out....a powder bag which she promptly threw on the floor. "You little...ugh!" Ember muttered as Nimble headbutted her in the gut and ran besides her as Ember fell to her knee, recognizing the smell of powder which fell and stuck on her clothes and limbs, prohibiting her from using her fire magic as Nimble regrouped with Jack on the upper level of the mall as Ember walked away from the cloud of improvised smoke a murdering rage boiling inside her, the building completely deserted by now.

Nimble ran, Jack perched on her shoulder both relieved they were closing in on an exit, the woman far behind and out of sight but as they reached the exit their hopes plummeted as the exit was blocked completely by burning rubble.
Quickly accepting they'd have to fight their way through Nimble handed Jack another two bags and a small knife as she picked a dagger for herself, instructing Nimble to follow her but hiding at the same pace.

Jumping against a broken pillar then back again towards the upper floor Ember quickly reached her sneaky "opponents". "No more miss nice girl...kid" Ember said as she aimed an axe kick at Nimble which she quickly dodged, the floor actually breaking due to the impact and weight of the boots Ember was wearing "Damn....if she gets me like that I'm done for" Jack and Nimble thought and told the other at once. Ember kept sending swift yet mortal punches and kicks towards Nimble who could barely outrun and dodge them, yet staying vital fractions of seconds ahead of Ember, but then Nimble stumbled on to the hand rail on a bifurcation on the road, as one of Ember's kick was aimed right at her chest, the blow, powerful as it was, didn't....neutralize Nimble completely as she was cleanly blown off the platform, clutching Ember's leg before letting go as she fell into the fountain.

Jack shrieked as nimble flew unconscious through the air and threw a dagger which dug deep in Ember's thigh, making her stagger towards the edge and suddenly Jack jumps on her back sending her over the edge towards the fountain as well...

The conclusion and possible cliffhanger to be posted soon....

Any thoughts please PM or post them here ^^
