Conversations in an RP

This was recently brought to my attention in the FFVIII RP I'm currently going through, but how can you write scenes in an RP with dialog with OTHER characters without over-stepping your bounds of controlling another character?

Like, when I was asked if the other person could control my character for the sake of having a flowing conversation, I wasn't really happy with that idea but I can't find a way of going around it unless we have extremely short posts going back and forth between characters.

So any suggestions?

umm youcan show emotion where you are and how you said it and after your down you can be like
She looked down at the ground waiting for blah blah to reply or something along those lines unless the other person lets you control there character thats how I manly do it

I think it'd work if you voiced your opinion with the conversation, how you'd like the conversation to go, what you notice around you, how much time has elapsed, what you plan to do after interacting with the person, or possibly continuing your idea with a train of thought, giving the person you're talking to information about the subject, while making it understood that the thought has stayed in your character's head and their character is unaware of that fact, but not them OOC.

Alternatively, you could hold the discussion in the sb, an IM, or through PM and figure out everything said beforehand so that you can both post the entire conversation in relation to their viewpoints.

As Doaj said, the best method would be to get together in private outside the RP.
