"Wii2" Controller Details Revealed

It's no big surprise now that Nintendo has their next console in the works after they released the 3DS. Speculation that we'll see it at E3 2011 has been tossed around, but until then, here's some info about one of the most important aspects of any console hardware-the controller.

Wii 2 will feature a new type of controller that includes a touch screen. The controller will give tablet-like controls to games, tapping the touch panel to control the characters on your television, for instance. The controller can also be used as a portable game machine.

The touch panel on the controller is six inches. The controller itself has a built in rechargeable battery and includes a camera. The camera can be used for a variety of play opportunities -- for instance, a player making an avatar of himself for use in a game.

Someitmes Nintendo feels so gimmicky, but at least we know they can pull off gimmicks decently well. I'll reserve judgement until we see it.

There are videos available on gametrailers that show the "Wii U" in action. Personally, I think it looks lame. Just another crappy gimmick to come outta Nintendo HQ. Nintendo presented the Wii U, yet didn't offer any specs. Maybe they're keeping its capabilities a secret for the time being. Or maybe they just have nothing to brag about.

Its hardware probably wouldn't match up with competing current gen consoles, let alone their successors. I'm not excited at all about it.

I for one wish Nintendo would stop thinking they are the underdog and trying to invent new ways of gaming. I bought a Wii because I'm a fan of Nintendo. I ws ubber pissed at all the slinging a control around I have to do to play my games. I just really don't see slinging the control around helping in exercise. With that said I want my old fat controller back with buttons. If they wanted to make it a bit smaller that would be fine but I just want to push buttons. I don't want to touch screen anything or sling my controller around. Maybe I'm just not "with it" anymore. I enjoy the graphics evolving but I really don't like game systems messing with my blasted controllers. But I'm the girl that doesn't carry a cell phone so what do I know.
