    Tsunami Hits Japan

Heavy earthquake (8.9 magnitude) caused a tsunami that hit Japan, 300 dead and rising from what I hear. Water will also hit Russia and other places.

EDIT: I just read death toll reached a 1000 and rising.

    Re: Tsunami Hits Japan

1 man from California is dead as well. Went to the beach to take pictures of the tsunami and was swept out to see. Not to be unsympathetic, but that sounds like Natural Selection to me. Wtf is he retarded? Four others were swept out as well, having been in the water by their beachouse without hearing about the warning. Two swam back, and the other two were saved by rescue copters.

There's also been evacuations in areas not damaged by the earthquake or tsunami in Japan, but because the earthquake made a nuclear reactor unstable, and we might have another Chernobyl on our hands. Japan is seriously getting shafted this week. Hope they're alright. They've done nothing wrong since Pearl Harbor, and I harbor no resentment over that (anymore). And who will make the PS4 if the Japanese go extinct? Nobody, that's who. >=[

Seriously though, hope Japan makes a speedy recovery. This sucks.

I hate natural disasters. I'd hate to sound inhumane, but Japan's economy can handle this. It's really sad that so many people have died.

They might be able to handle this, but it's going to very strongly hurt the economy. This has gotten pretty intense, with oil/gas/nuclear chemical leaks. But I'd agree that the economical problems are the least they should be worrying about right now.

    Re: Tsunami Hits Japan

I spent hours watching the footage of this on NHK the day it happened and none of it seemed real to me. It's like that shit you see in the disaster movies. Only it was real.

I have lots of family in Japan so naturally I am paranoid and concerned for their health and well being, along with the rest of Japan. I'm not sure if the family are all okay though. I don't think anyone has gotten a hold of them.
All of the shit they're going through and the many deaths breaks my heart. The radiation situation isn't helping either. I hate that they have to suffer with that.

    Re: Tsunami Hits Japan

Last time I heard (which I think was last night), the death toll is up to over 7000 or so, and there's even more people missing.
There were voluntary evacuations and an estimate of 3000-7000 people were flown to Seattle. I hope the people here are hospitable...

I can't imagine we wouldn't be. Interesting that of all the places in the world, they're right in our backyard.

Never know, lots of people here are dicks. :/ They'd better be welcomed here though.. I'll feel like killing something if some Seattle assholes were less than hospitable, considering all of the shit Japan is going through.
The evacuees were sent to the closest U.S. airport from Japan, which happened to be Sea-Tac.

    Re: Tsunami Hits Japan

They were sent to several big cities along the east coast, actually. Sea-Tac got the most though, because of Lewis-McChord.

EDIT: I meant west coast. o=
