    Mortal Kombat RP

UPDATE (12/9/11): I have moved the thread to the OOC section of casual RP. As such, I will post necessary whatchamajiggs.

The story takes place between Deception and Armageddon, so Taven is not released from his stone yet. All other characters, obviously, are available to choose from, OR you may create your own. However, character creation will be strict so that we don't muddy the vibe. I may suggest several changes before approving your created character. After your first bio is up and approved, you may request a second character, but you will need to explain why you need two main characters. Mortal Kombat is huge, and with so many choices on who to play, it would be too easy to just be Kano and Shang Tsung and Khameleon and Skarlet. If you want to be Kano and Jarek- well, that makes sense. But if you want to be Kitana and Motaro- that doesn't.

The premise: Shinnok has successfully cloned Smoke, granting Noob Saibot's wish to create an army of cyber Smokes with which to assault the other realms. The Brotherhood of Shadow is allied with these clones, which should be noted are weaker than the original Smoke. The clones are called 'Motes'. Shinnok is attacking Outworld first, because it's the largest and because with Shao Kahn, The Deadly Alliance, and Onaga all weakened, it has no central power. Yes, Mileena had relinquished control to Kahn again, but his army is scattered and he has been out of practice. Will the other realms band together, or will a single realm rise up and conquer the Netherealm? Better yet, might the Brotherhood of Shadow succeed, and accomplish what Outworld never could?

Template: these are the necessary details for your character--CREATED OR NOT, YOU MUST FILL THIS OUT COMPLETELY. You may include additional details should you find it necessary, but this is the bare minimum. If a field is not known, or you would prefer to keep the detail secret, simply say so.

Name: Shinnok, the Fallen Elder God
    Gender: Male
    Age: Infinite
    Birth Realm: Heaven
Allies: Noob Saibot, Smoke, Kia, Jataaka, Quan Chi
Enemies: Raiden, Fujin, The Elder Gods, all else who oppose the BoS
Alliance (i.e. Brotherhood of Shadow, Lin Keui): Brotherhood of Shadow
Weapons: Shinnok utilizes a staff with Shinnok's Amulet attached at one end. The staff not only enhances his sorcery, but is a durable material that can hold its own against swords, axes, and the strongest of combat weaponry.
Abilities: Shinnok has the ability to control Belokk, a giant skeletal monster. Shinnok often summons Belokk's hands from the earth beneath his opponent, to grab them, crush them, rip them in twain, and any other sinister fates. As a necromancer, he can also control the dead. He has powerful magic, since he was an Elder God, afterall. Shinnok has single-handedly defeated armies, and with an army at his feet, he'll be unstoppable. Bwahahahaha.
Background: Shinnok used to be an Elder God. However, he saw Raiden's joy and success at protecting Earthrealm and its inhabitants, and grew jealous. As an Elder God, he was bound to strict rules. Shinnok broke these rules, attempting to steal Earthrealm from Raiden. Shinnok wanted to crush all life from Earthrealm to break Raiden's spirits. Raiden met with the Elder Gods though, and upon learning of his selfish and delinquint behavior, he was cast out of Heaven, and stripped of his status as Elder God. Raiden was given Shinnok's Amulet, which severely limited Shinnok's powers, and Raiden hid it in Earthrealm, cast a spell to prevent any sorcerous being from going near it, and appointed four gods to guard it. Shinnok wandered the Netherealm, where he was safe from the wrath of the Elder Gods, until an idea struck him. As the strongest being in the realm, he could lead it, and show the Elder Gods what true power is. Shinnok employed oni as his underlings, and revolted against Lucifer, the ruler of the Netherealm. It was a fierce battle, but Shinnok was victorious. He cast Lucifer into the lowest depths of the realm, and ruled with an even crueler fist than Lucifer had. Eventually, the Brotherhood of Shadow was created by Quan Chi, an oni who had helped Shinnok revolt. The Brotherhood of Shadow was, unfortunately, composed of sorcerous beings, so Quan Chi hired the Lin Keui to find and steal Shinnok's Amulet. They were successful, but Sub Zero, the Lin Keui warrior who did it, found out why they wanted it, and went to the Netherealm to get it back. At Shinnok's behest, Quan Chi created a duplicate, so when Sub Zero stole the amulet back, it was actually a fake.

Shinnok later led a revolt, intent on striking down Earthrealm once again. He was largely successful- he killed all but two of the Earthrealm gods- the only survivors being Raiden and Fujin. The two gods gathered Earthrealm's finest fighters and met Shinnok's forces head on. Again, Shinnok was met with defeat. It's been more than thirty years since then, but Shinnok has regathered his forces, and he's spotted another opportunity. Shujinko and Damashi reigned havoc across the realms, and Shinnok won't let them pick up the pieces.

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Good questions... I was thinking we should make up are own characters..and start after MK4 so that way we have a list of characters we know and can interact with..plus we have realms to visit and sort of a time line to understand the events going on around us. ..HMM...Not really sure were to start with this thu.. I would think a introduction to each character would be suitable..

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Our own characters is fine by me. We'll see what a few others think if they ever show up. =P Definitely a good idea so that everyone can travel through other realms. Perhaps between Deception and Armageddon, so that every character is available to interact with except Taven (And who cares about Taven anyway?). I do think it should take place during an actual tournament though. But which realms would be having a tournament at this time? Seidan and Outworld, maybe?

I am not really sure I suppose as we go along we will figure out what is what..

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Hmm... when you get into specifics a actual Mortal Kombat RP could be difficult to set up at first but I would say that once it was it would be very interesting! I myself think the storylines behind each character could be interesting to keep in tact. It gives you something specific to go on and could keep a RP of this sort from becoming a bit... hmm how should I put this.... out there. I was at a lack of better wording. If you created several Relams in one specific Mortal Kombat RP Sub Section the characters could go between Realms to RP. But I would state a specific Relam where the actual tournament takes place. Am I making any sense or does that sound jumbled? Take... lets see... Sindel for example. If the tournment was to take place in Outworld there could be a specific thread designed for said tournement to take place (as a sticky) but some of Sindel's places she could RP between would be the Earthrealm and Outworld for the tournment.

EDIT: And you already stated that Doaj, excuse me for my scan reading. Lol...

On a side not having said specific characters and a blend of created characters could be interesting as well. I suppose it would be up to the creator of the role play to decide what direction he/she would like to see take place.

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Well, I'm certainly open to whatever the participants are most interested in. So far, you're the only participant (I assure you that other person with one post will never return to this site). So, we could start small, and maybe othes would join. What say you to that?

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

i say go for it. Perhaps when you have it started people that stop by the site may be interested and stick around. It's worth a shot.

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Perhaps I will try this, I like the idea of a created character and post MK4 era.

What say you to a postMK4 character, Vine?

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Eh? What are you saying post a character bio or what character would I prefer? I of course like Kitiana and Jade. But I suppose it would be a matter of what characters are needed most.

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Whoops. I was thinking something entirely different from what I typed. I meant, what do you think about a post-MK4 setting? Also, you don't mind the option of creating new characters to play, yes-no?

I think at this point, I'm most interested in playing Shinnok, and having him be the main villain. Others could play characters from Raiden's side of the ordeal, and some could play Brotherhood of Shadow members. And, of course, anyone would be more than welcome to create a third party to mix things up. How does that sound to everyone? It would be after MK4, so Quan Chi is in the Netherealm, along with Scorpion. Sub Zero has taken the Lin Keui back from Sektor, who is creating the Tekunin. Cyrax is a member of the OIA, with Jax, Sonya, etc. Does this sound like a good starting place?

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

As good as a place as any to start I would suppose. No I surely don't mind any made up characters. Expecially if a lot of people became interested there wouldn't be enough characters to play. I would Imagine the first characters you would need would of course be the villian and the proclamied good guy aka Raiden. I don't mind what Realm we would start in at all. That sounds just fine to me.

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Agreed, This era seems like the best place to start due to the lack of conflict.

    Question can we Time Hop?

Because I have a made up character in mind.

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Maybe we should choose our characters first, and then choose the setting. That way everyone gets to play who they want. Are the three of us for sure in on this then? And should we start with us three, or try to recruit a few more chaps first?

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

I say go ahead and set it up. Sometimes the best advertisement is things people look up. As many people as you tell about it anyways a few may come but the one's who look it up (Much like I did to find this forum) are the one's who are going to be more interested in it. At least if they have something to go on or read they may sign up. I myself love the girls of MK but that's probably not going to be a needed character right off. Who's going to be the villian of the RP if it's after MK4?

EDIT: You already stated who the villian will be for this section. I shall see what ValorStyle wants to be first then I'll ask who's most needed.

I concur with Fruit, and since I have never done a RP you guys can go first so I can get some kind of an idea.

It's fun! You shall catch on easy. I learned by reading other posts when I started. There are some very good posts here in the RP sections.

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

Well, I think I'm going to create a character who works under Shinnok, and if neither of you mind, I'll play Shinnok as well. Do eitrher of you want to play henchman, or would you prefer good guys?

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

I do not mind what I play at all. I can attempt at two characters if needed. I don't mind playing Radien and one of the MK girls however I am only currently up to date with the stories of 2011 MK. I'd have to be filled in on where the characters stand as post MK4.

    Re: Mortal Kombat RP

You may have noticed we move along at a pretty sluggish pace here. It doesn't help that I'm devoting a large percentage of online time to research for my new (kinda) job. I'm working on a few articles for Cracked. Hopefully it goes well, but it's also why I haven't posted a character yet.
