[Rumor] Pan's Labyrinth+Saints Row= ?
Visionary Mexican director Guillermo del Torro, the man who has helmed such films as Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone, could be set to work with Saints Row and Red Faction developers Volition on a new and unannounced action role-playing game.
A scene from Pan's Labyrinth, directed by Guillermo del Torro.
The speculation comes after del Torro's news that he was "getting into video games" and Volition reporting that they are working with a "high-powered creative talent in the entertainment industry".
A member of Volition's dev team has had a project called "Downfall" listed on his online resume as being in development since 2004. Could this be a title del Torro would be interested in working on? Whatever the project is, at this present moment in time Volition are looking for a Design Director to work alongside the unnamed "high-powered creative talent".
We're expecting an official announcement within the next few weeks.

If true, this could certainly turn out to be an awesome venture. Guillermo del Torro is an amazing director and his style definitely suits video games. I'm looking forward to an announcement, whatever it may be, that regards his future in video games.

AMAAAAAAZING! xD
I just rewatched Pan's Labyrinth yesterday, and I was like: "Man, this guy really missed the boat on doing amazing video games." Haha, that's amazing that he may actually do just that!

Re: [Rumor] Pan's Labyrinth+Saints Row= ?
del Toro is a great director. I am intrigued to see how his video game ends up.
Games made by film directors are usually decent (Clive Barker's Jericho and John Woo's Stranglehold, for example).

UPDATE
It's true. :3
Guillermo del Torro has recently revealed to MTV that he's going to be working with THQ on a series of video games including one horror-ish title that he's described himself as 'Lovecraftian' in nature. His titles could be published by THQ as soon as 2013 and in the meantime he's working on directing a movie adaption of a H.P. Lovecraft novella titled At the Mountains of Madness which is slated for a 2013 theatrical release.
Regarding the horror video game that he will be working on, Guillermo has said: "It's horror...but it's a very different type of horror game. It's not survival horror. It's truly a strange, geeky mix. It's a Lovecraftian thing. Let's leave it at that."
