The sequel to 2009's mega critically acclaimed Batman video game Batman: Arkham Asylum has been named and gven a new website this morning by Warner Bros.

I couldn't be happier with this game and we've seen barely anything of it thus far. Just the concept that a chunk of Gotham has been sectioned off and turned into the new Arkham is awesome, and seems like the most logical progression from the first game because let's face it, they'd have been fools to not make a sequel.

According to the press release the game will include story that "draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight,".

I will be trying my best to keep this thread updated with news and developments regarding the game as time goes on, so don't be afraid to pop in more than once before the game's release because I won't be making a ton of seperate threads for this. I don't exactly plan on doing so, anyway.

EDIT: The article currently featured on Kotaku has since been updated with this lovely Game Informer cover featuring Catwoman! Can we add her to the list of baddies coming up?

Also, there should be no speculation now that that definitely is a poster of Two-Face in the background. We've never had a good look at it before but now it should be clear as day to those of you who have the foresight to tip your screens back.

EDIT 2: Here's an enhanced image I just whipped up for those of you who may not have that option...

Oh, Mr. Werewolf, you're so cute! Why is your mouth so big? Why, in order to put my explosives in it!

    FUCK YEAR TWO-FACE.

We also need The Riddler. Like, actually appearing. Not like he was in AA.

    Re: Batman: Arkham City

We know that voice acting has been done for The Riddler as well as Mr. Freeze and Talia al Ghul for Arkham City. Obviously The Joker and Harley Quinn will play their parts. And we've seen Catwoman and Two-Face in promotional art/trailers. We've also seen other villains hinted at in trailers like The Penguin when his bar appears fleetingly. All in all this is shaping up to be the best game of 2011.

Yeah, the release date is Fall 2011. Long time to wait but damn sure it'll be worth it.

Arkham Asylum was such a great game, and I'm definitely looking forward to taking a swing at this game.

But, man, Fall 2011. D= My patience can only take me so far!

It made sense for him to appear how he did. He's a schemer, not a fighter.

    Re: Batman: Arkham City

I have an update in the form of screenshots:
    http://kotaku.com/5627537/batman-ark...ots//gallery/1

Two-Face looks awesome and so do Catwoman and the new design for Harley Quinn. I loved the nurse outfit from Arkham Asylum but damn she looks even better. The fact that we haven't seen Joker yet makes me wonder whether or not we will see him in the game at all. It could be that his condition is far too critical for him to properly take up the fight against Bats. Maybe he pulls the strings from behind the scenes? That would be a shame.

EDIT: Also, if I'm reading into these screenshots correctly, Catwoman should be an ally.

    Re: Batman: Arkham City

Agreed Catwoman is confirmed as an ally in Arkham City. Having subscribed to Game Informer, I read the article of theirs a while back.

I can provide some details on the story, but its under spoilers in case someone wants to be TOTALLY spoiler free before they play the game:

The Game takes place 2 years after Arkham Asylum. The Warden of Arkham Asylum has since then, taken credit for stopping the riot in Arkham Asylum and has become the mayor or Gotham City. He's gone on to dissolve Arkham Asylum and buy a big part of the city. In this area of the city, which is sectioned off from the rest of the city, Criminals are thrown in and left to pretty much their own devices with one rule: "No escape".

It is rumored that a Doctor Hugo Strange is at work crafting some sinister plan. Batman has been keeping his eye on Arkham City for quite some time, and has to jump in when he hears of Catwoman being in Arkahm City and being abducted by Two Face.

Two Face, in the ongoing gang war against various of Batman's villains, has to show the various thugs that he means business, and the way he is doing it is by a "Public Execution of Catwoman".

Nuff said, Batman heads into Arkham City to save Catwoman.

Source is of course, Game Informer.
