    Games That Don't Need Guides

Games today seem to come filled with little in-game secrets and certain events that can only happen if you have a strategy guide, or if you frequent gamefaqs constantly.

So, I ask...what games do you think have given you the best experience, with the least amount of a guide-dependency?

For me, I'd have to say it's the Pokemon games. Sure, you have to consult guides to know about the evolutions, items, and certain side quests...but for the most part - the game is perfectly enjoyable without ever looking at a walk-through or a guide even once.

    How about you guys?

When I saw the game title, I also thought of Pokemon.

But I would also say any Rhythm game, such as Guitar Hero, Rock Band or Dance Dance Revolution.
Or 99.99% of casual games (Wii Sports, Bejeweled, Zuma's Revenge).

Hold right and occasionally press A.

    A whole childhood of fun.

I'm thirding Pokemon as well. While there are lots of games in which you can play the "main" portion of all on your own, there's so many aspects that are hard to do without some guide, but Pokemon you can jump right into with little thought. If anything, because there are limitations by playing alone, you can only do so much before stopping.
Hi, sorry about my lacking presence at RSF. I got busy with my off-line life, and though it's settled a bit, there's not much to do here without people posting (which is kind of my fault >.<)

I don't think games without secrets really count so....

Kirby. Including Dreamland 3 and Crystal shards. Sure, some of the stuff is hard to figure out but it's nothing beyond the ability of a person with a normal IQ if he or she thinks about it for a bit. Also, stuff like finding all the powers and the hidden level in milky way wishes.

Castlevania. I'm talking Symphony of the Night and forward. Sure, there's a shitload of secrets, but I don't think you need a guide for them. You can easily beat the game without finding every secret, and finding them on your own is where the fun lies. There are only a few things that you'd probably never figure out on your own.

    This one is easy...

    Sonic 1, 2 and 3.

    Or

    Just about every platformer ever.
    HE WILL BE MISSED...

    I bit off topic, but:

    RPGs, duh! hell no.

I agree with Pokemon as well. It's enjoyable in itself without a guide, although I've used one a few times...just to check where a couple of things were.

    Anyway.
I think... GENERALLY: fighting games, sports games, racing games (you may group that with sports if you so desire), and party games don't need guides. They're simple enough. I also think shooting games don't really need guides either, unless they have some super hidden out-of-the-way crap in them like the skulls in Halo 3, etc. but more power to the people that find that stuff on their own. o__o

New Super Mario Brothers Wii. There's literally a guide IN THE GAME, and yet there's a print guide you can buy...

Any Kingdom Hearts game. I bought the guides after playing through a few times but only to find a few things. I overall didn't need them.
