    Arrow Daybreak: Utopia ;; An Apocolyptic Roleplay

    EXERPT FROM SCIENTIST: REID DAVID MUNRO.
    DATED: 14th AUGUST 2096.
    TIME: 0437 HOURS.
    I've not too much time, but it's getting worse, the human race is dwindling at such an extreme and rapid pace, we don't have enough time to remedy the Radioactive effects that are causing our humans to die off so quickly. I fear by the end of month, half of our population will have died. People that can afford it are already leaving for the place, those that have the connections to pay themselves there safely. I, however, do not have the privallage. I feel all my effort, time and money into this cure has been hopeless; the only ones able to help me with it have already been affected by the radiation, and the one's that have not have already fled. I will probably die here in this small, desolate Laboratory, along with my hopes and dreams of a better world. Who was I to think I could make it better? I don't have the money, knowledge or power to fight something as strong as Radiation itself; I'm just one human being. I've got nothing. However, this will be my final entry, because as soon as I finish writing, I will be off to find some form of safety. My lord, have mercy on me for fleeing, I tried all I could. Please, forgive my sin.
    The year is 2387, after the third world war finished in the year 2123, the planet and its surroundings have undergone extreme changes. The Nuclear Holocaust that commenced killed near all life on earth, the only life living being that of the humans and what animals could be protected. Almost all plant life was wiped off of the face of the Earth, and the human race struggled tremendously to survive. It was a time of Depression on a scale that no other time on earth could compare to, the tragedies were in the Billions, home's were wiped clean and became nothing but heated ash on the baron wasteland. The planet was barely able to inhabit life. Unable to go on, many of the humans too their own lives, the count reached somewhere in their Hundreds. The world had never seen such a Pandemic, it seemed as though all hope was lost.

    Now, 264 years later, the world has rapidly changed. In the 50 years after the Nuclear Holocaust, the Earth's atmosphere began to change, it became thicker and by every passing year - Hotter. Scientists, after much experimenting and observing, discovered that the Earth's O-Zone layer was becoming thinner and thinner at every passing year. And by the year 2173, the Earth was without an O-Zone layer altogether, allowing the radioactive waves from the Sun to pound into Earth with ease. The radioactivity from the sun mixed with the chemicals and radiation left over from the Nuclear Holocaust, causing an epidemic to spread through the remaining Humans. The Chemical activity molded with many of the humans DNA, mutating it and turning them into mindless creatures, devoid of what humanity they may have had.

    There wasn't very many of them to begin with, from what people could discover, it was only molding with the weaker human immune systems. It mainly targeted the elderly, and what few newborn children there were alive, which were extremely scarce. Although, as the elderly also became rare to come by, the "Radi-Gene", as it was named, seemed to grow stronger and more powerful. It managed to infect the younger generation of people in their mid 20's and 30's. People began to flee once again, as the infected humans were so monstrous, people dispersed quickly, finding safety in what homes they could find, without being found by them.

    The infected humans were later named "Screamers", as that was the only sound they were capable of making, and seemed unable to control when they did; making them somewhat easy to detect. The Humans all fell into hiding, nobody really knows where the other humans went, and very few of them live out in the open now. Most have moved underground or built themselves into Safety (No doors, windows etc.), and have means of protection. The Earth has become something of a new war zone, The Screamers have become the enemy, hunting whatever they can, they're scavengers; and strong ones at that. The Humans are having to fine their own way to survive.

    This will revolve around six individuals, they have been living with each other in an abandoned bomb shelter somewhere under what used to be New York for three months. After being attacked by a "Radi-Infected" (Radiation Infected) Human, they trapped it and managed to reveal what information if could before the human became a fully Changed Screamer. The group learned that there was an apparent "Utopia" somewhere to the East, an Underground Civilization that had been built in the past few decades for the purpose of continuing the Human Race and preventing it from becoming Extinct. The group decide they're going to head out to search for the place, in hopes of finally being able to live relatively peacefully lives once again. Will they Succeed in finding a new Home? Or will they meet the same fate as the rest of the Screamers?

    So, is anyone interested? ^^~
    I'm kind of looking for five more people to do this with. I'm also doing it on another site too, but I was interested to see how it fared here too. Kind of looking for literate writers, people who can write like, 500+ words.
    Thanks for reading! <3

    I am literate. I could join.

    I'm always fond of post-apocalyptic settings, so this certainly looks quite interesting. BTW, do you mean New York city or New York state? Because I thought most of what's east of the city is water

    I guess the people would have to travel by night since daytime would be too dangerous due to solar radiation?

    Anyway, I'm interested.

    Yay! Thanks!
    And I haven't the foggiest Idea, I'm not very good at Geography. But the image in my head at the time was the City ^^;

    And right, that was part of the original idea, hence the title. It was kind of stolen off of the Vin Diesel movie Pitch Black (Or Riddick, I can't remember) and the scene where the group of them are trying to get out of the open land before the sun rises. Anyway yeah, our group would be able to go out in the sunshine and daylight, just not for too long, and it would depend on how sunny/cloudy it was. But travel at sunset and during the night would be the safest to avoid becoming a Screamer. Although not safest in being hunted by them.

    ^^'; Thank you for taking interest! <3

    I'm interested as well, semi-literate as 500 words tends to be about what I average. I've always been a fan of this genre and would love to join.

    Are Screamers the only kind of Radi-Human? Are other critters infected?

    I'm assuming there are drastic climate changes, should we be concerned with a change in atmosphere, acid rain, and low oxygen? I don't know much about that part of it so I probably won't be playing a scientist XD!

    Theres not really a big change in atmosphere, just that because of the heat, snow is pretty much history, Rains a lot hotter than it is now (Think of luke warm water). Oxygen is also the same as it is, just theres a lot more radiation in the air (obviously), and if you breath in too much of it (staying out in the open for around 4+ hrs), your body will eventually change and after a few days you'll become a Screamer. And Screamers aren't the only Radi-Infected creatures, but they are the most dangerous. Pretty much all the other Radi-Infected things can be beaten off and killed, most would only attack you if you were on your own or they were in a group.
    For an idea of what the Screamers look like, think of the monsters off of I am Legend, then cross that with the Skin of Freddie Kruger >.>;
