Because I felt bad about promising two skins, and having a light skin that was mostly unusable, and due to the stress that the transparent skin was putting on some of your machines, I added a new skin! And this one's fluid!

RSF V2: Dark Blue Skin

This skin also has some improvements when it comes to the editor, as the icons should not be more legible. I'll be working on adding the fixed icons to the other Dark skin as well, and making little tweaks to the two dark skins in order to fix little bugs here and there.

Eitherway, I sincerely hope you guys like this new skin! It's going to be placed as the new default one, but you're welcome to still use V2: Dark, and V2: Light.

Great Job Kendra this skin is the best yet! I must admit eventhough the Dark skin was cool I did sometimes find it hard to read some posts with the transparent background. Luckily this new skin is pretty much perfect and has a very sexy Tri Edge banner, Kudos to you!

I'm not really a fan of scrolling backgrounds as per the Dark scheme, not to mention it just seems a little... Well, i'm not sure what the word i'm looking for is. And the new one just seems to similar to so many other forums and sites i've been on, so I guess I just like the Light scheme better in this case.

That said, I do like how you're trying to make enough choice to satisfy everyone.

As I told you before, this one is my fav. I think so long as I don't switch to one of the other skins, mine is going to remain in that transitory stage. I say this because at this moment, Master Chief is hanging out in the banner, and I see in your preview that he is gone. Hilarious.

The word you're looking for is generic, and I have to agree with you on that. I personally love the Light skin myself, and mostly because its something, different unique and it honestly fits with the "Rising Star" image a lot more than a dark skin with a metallic look and a sorta effecty banner.

The problem with this, and one that I think Kendra probably chose these dark skins in favor of, is that at the end of the day, there are very few people like myself and you who care about unique, different and an identity for a forum/site. Most people care about usability and what looks easy and nice on the eyes. In that sense, I think this skin more than accomplishes the task.

I must add, that skinning for vB is extremely difficult for someone who hasn't had the experience, and add to that, it takes a hell of a lot of time even if you DO know how to skin it. Free skins, with a bit of editing, make life a lot easier, and that's what most forums opt for these days XD

I love this new skin very much. I hadn't seen it till Ryvius got on earlier. I love Kite!
I have been using the light one because I really liked the colors and my phone wouldn't load the dark one but at the end of the day the light one hurts my eyes, I've seemed to misplace my glasses yet again.
I'll most likely go back and forth between this new one and the light one. You really do a fantastic job Kendra. I am very pleased. Thank you! ^_^

Thank you very much! I know you missed the original blue skin we had, so hopefully this one will qualify as a suitable replacement. =) Even though it's dark, it has similar elements to the old one.

To each his own. xD I do love the colors in the light skin, and how light and happy it is, I just wish I could condense it a bit more to be smaller, as the size is a wee bit daunting.

I prefer to go for styles that make everyone happy, and in previous polls on RSF, the vast majority requested a skin that was dark, with silver, purple, and blue colors. This skin has almost all of that, as does the transparent Ghost in the Shell one. Only the light skin was free, mind you. You quoted me for making a custom vbulletin skin at $350, a price tag that can't be justified on a forum that currently has no ad revenue, and no donations. If I was interested in making RSF a business and not a fun little community for people to kick back and relax, I wouldn't mind putting in such an investment. But I think these skins more than fit our needs for now.

I'm definitely going to look into changing the staff colors to be a little less clashing. xD They do stand out quite a bit now.

No. On the dark skin, the toolbar sticks to the top of the screen and follows you as you scroll down.

The other two leave the toolbar at the top with banner, meaning you have to scroll up to the top in order to access it.

Uhhh... I think you misunderstood my post, I said I thought you made the right decision. At the end of the day, what users want is "Readability" and "accessibility" rather than something that may look "stylistically" neat but isn't as practical.

I was also saying how difficult it is to construct a skin from scratch, or even have it made. There are currently not many skinners that I know of that will make a custom vB 4 skin anyway (I know I can't).

I also agree with you 100%, the community's fun and heart warming, friendly nature is what makes it so attractive, and fun. There are too many big forums that just focus on Google Ads and getting huge amounts of hits. I'd rather prefer a small, tight night, and friendly community like RSF.

Seems in trying to be diplomatic, I seemed to have given people the impression that I was looking down on the skins or something, I never said that.
