    Rest In Peace, Nujabes...

If you don't already know, or if someone hasn't posted about it already, Nujabes, a Japanese Hip Hop musician who got a lot of his Stateside fame after composing the intro song for Samurai Champloo, as well as contributing a good 20 or so tracks to the show's extensive OST, died in a car accident about a month ago. His death had been kept a secret from the public for a whole month for unknown reasons, and was announced by a longtime friend and collaborator, Shing02.

I'm really effed up about this news, especially since my Winter Soulstice project was GREATLY inspired by Nujabes' music. I know I said I would post more, but now I have another reason to record more music. I've been hard at work on a tribute project for Nujabes, and I'm five songs deep so far. Hopefully I'll get it done before the week is over. If not, you can probably expect to hear it in the next few weeks. I don't know. :\

But yeah, Rest In Peace, Nujabes.

Well, that sucks. I really liked his work on Samurai Champloo. I hadn't really listened to anything else by him, but this is a major bummer.

    WHAT!?????????????????????????????

Nujabes is my favorite Japanese Artist, his songs are awesome, especially "Battle Cry" the intro song for Samurai Champloo.
Why the hell would they keep it secret

Can't be too sure. I can only assume that they wanted his death to remain a secret until he had been laid to rest, and that they were comfortable with being bombarded by the media with bullcrap, you know?

I read about this, and it super bummed me out! I really like his music, and it's a shame to lose a talented artist. =(

It is really strange that they'd keep it secret, and I can only hope it was out of concern for his family. Chances are, they just did it for the company. =/

Now that just ruined my whole week. I didn't know anything about this...My Zune is filled with all of his music, too..Gah. He inspired a few compositions I've done in FL Studio, actually. Man...That's eff'd up.
