    Open Horizons

    For Science!!
This is currently posted as is from another forum I had once frequented. This is simply to provide an example of what one could possibly post in their own personal Player Profile thread.

As it stands now, this thread was simply a perpetual search thread for players and opportunities, at the time, also providing my likes, dislikes, and some writing samples and a bit of history.

I will leave it the way it is for a few days, just so whoever would like to can take a peek at it. Then I may alter it here and there to suit my needs here at RSF.

    ____Introduction_

    Welcome one and all.

As many others before me, I create this thread to 'expose my roleplaying abilities'... so to speak. I wouldn't mind a roleplay that involves more than one person. Feel free to suggest a group RP that you may think would interest me. But, a one-on-one RP, preferably with one whose roleplay skill at least matches that of my own.

This, of course, would mean literacy is required. Semi-literate is definitely acceptable. Just as long as there is no net-speak, whether it be leet or the like. Punctuation, grammar, and spelling are highly coveted when it comes to roleplaying with others. In my opinion, it makes the game much more tangible for the mind.

Another deal I have is with colored text. No, I don't mind it at all if you format your text a certain way. I do it all the time myself. But please, please, please use a dark and easily legible color. I don't want to have to strain my eyes reading your posts during an RP. I will be willing to put up with it during OOC or random banter... But definitely not during a roleplay.

    RP 2 : [Untitled]
Somewhat of a spin on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, with a yaoi twist.
Focusing on a more developed/ing romance between characters Cesario and Orsino - both actually male, yes... As well as in a more modern, business oriented setting.

    ____RP Specs_

Some tidbits of info on certain types of RPing.

Group RPs, The more the merrier. Sometimes, I admit, it's a little difficult to keep track of everyone and one the off the record, yes I tend to skip over posts that have nothing to do with my character, but group RPs are definitely a good round of fun. More people to poke and torment. Hehe.

Per One-on-One RPing, I would actually prefer thread or PM roleplay to realtime messengers. Firstly, the realtime messengers that I have are highly restricting when it comes to the amount of text one can send at a time. Boards are much more open to posting amounts. Now, granted that realtime is much more time-saving and gets a roleplay going fairly quickly, it's much easier to pickup where the RP left off should it be placed on hold over night or something. (Yes, I would like to participate in an RP that lasts longer than a one night run.) However, it is negotiable.

Practice RPing is something I'm willing to participate in. Through lurking in forum and subforums and many, many threads, I've seen more um.. "under-experienced" roleplay threads than that of any other. Where action indicators (* / ::[]) are more common in a majority of the games here , I personally believe that prose is the way to go. If any newbies are interested in "learning the ropes" I would be more than happy to oblige in a bit of practice. Don't hesitate to ask. (Of course, one must be sincere in their efforts to improve. I would rather my time was not wasted, thanks.)

    ____Genres_

My preferences and my less... preferred..

Romance - I'm extremely open-minded when it comes to relationships. I'm happy to participate in a Yaoi RP as readily as a Het. Yuri is not a particular sort that I find myself taking a part of often. I've attempted, but the water doesn't flow as well as the other two. If you greatly desire a Yuri RP with me, I will give it a shot.. But I'm not making promises. As for story orientation, I don't mind having a plot that tells the story of finding love, but I can also do with romance being the byproduct of another genre.

    Horror/Supernatural
    - I'm up for a little zombified, brain-hankerin', blood-lustin', fang-bearing, claw-thrashing goodness. I'm all for the blood and gore, but I would like to keep things under regulation. As I would like to push the envelope via juicy details, PG-13 is the limit. Vampire and were threads are fairly extensive in the forums, so I would perfer it, again, be something of substance. True blue, horror story as opposed to "OMG, I'm a vampire! I want your blooooooood~!"

    Slice of Life
    - I wouldn't mind playing in a modern day setting. Not something I normally browse for, but I suppose I could give it a go if the plot and story were yummy enough. Only one way to know if I would go for a round, hm? I just tend to steer away from such things that are terribly run-of-the-mill. School, office, hospitals and the like generally don't attract my attention. But, as I mentioned, if it's got a spicy ring to it... Perhaps. x3

Fantasy/Medieval - Personally, I adore fantasy. I'm all for the magic and mystery. From royalty to rubbish, wizards to sorceresses, and holy knights to conniving thieves, I'm open. Substance, purpose, and plot required, of course.

Futuristic/steam-punk/etc. - I can't say I'm very knowledgeable in this particular world setting, but I'm certainly willing to try if you're someone who will be patient with me and are willing to give me a bit of assistance should I ask. I know that there can be a ton of good stories and roleplays that can spawn from this particular genre, so I'm willing if you are.

Series/book-based - Eeeeh, not so much. Though, I am most certainly a fan of many-a series; anime, cartoons, movies, books, etc. I would prefer not to dip into such waters. I've a difficultly believing I'm someone who could keep characters canon, so I prefer to just leave them be to their own.

Slave x Master - Intellectual imaginations only, please. I'm not trying to set myself up for a PWPHOMGSECKS?! No. Bring in some dynamic stories and settings. Servant and Master, perhaps. No Slaves.

Other genres - These listed are merely the ones that have come to mind. I assure you though, that if you suggest one that isn't listed, I would be willing to give it a try. Provided said genre suggestion meets the aforementioned prerequisites, of course.

Do remember these are merely guidelines. Most if not all can be bent if you've managed to entice me well enough. Feel free to give it a shot.

    ____RP Samples_

Just to get the jist of my "level of writing."

These are sample posts that ran somewhat lengthy. But, this is a sample of 'advanced' level of RP that I can run. Depending on circumstances, posts can most certainly be toned down.
They won't always be this long. Just read as much as you need in order to assess my abilities. (But do read on if you'd like.)

The first two examples a smidgen gory, so if you're squeamish perhaps you should skip to the third.

Intro post for a zombie RP
It was cold. It was so very cold. Quiet too. Deathly quiet.

Harlem hugged the gun to her shivering body. The metal of it was just as cold as she was. Realizing just how much she was clinging to the thing made her remember how she attained it in the first place - prying it from some dead man's fingers. A dead man, with a missing arm, torn flesh on his chest and face, and the meat torn away from one of his shins. The look on his face made her feel as though absolutely no hope was left for this city and it's people.

It was gloomy. It wasn't dark in the office building she was in - quite the contrary. It was very bright. She had curled herself in the corner of a cubical. The annoying hum of the desk lamp was the only real sound as the light flickered on and off.

By comparison to some of the people she had come across, she was in fairly good shape. Her clothes were a bit wore and dirty, but not torn and ragged. The only thing that truly gave off any evidence she had been in any altercation was the countless stains of blood on her. Her shirt was nearly completely drenched in the front by blood, her black jeans were spattered with the bright red essence of someone's once healthy life.

Who that someone was made her quivering even worse. Dad... she thought as visions haunted her mind. The gory, untimely death of her parents was not something she had ever imagined happening on a summer visit home from her university. Mom... her thoughts screamed in her head - along with the voiced cries of her parents as they were being viciously mauled and mutilated by those undead bastards of Hell.

Rem's eyes shut at tight as they could, trying to block out any visions that came forth - her hands clasped desperately over her ears to keep out any voices, screams, and pointless cries for help from anyone. The sub-machine gun fell to the floor with a heavy 'thack.' Tears welled in her sorrow-filled eyes. She was alone - the streets were littered with the deceased and dying, crawling with the undead who starved for her very flesh.

She tried to wipe away some of the blood that was on her skin - first her cheeks, then her neck and arms. None would come off. It was all caked onto her. She trembled with fear, she trembled with the thought of her parents' blood soaking deep within the thread of her garments. She was going to die. That's all there was to it. She was a dead person.

She looked at the AR-15 on the ground at her feet and reached to pick it up. She examined it with untrained eyes, turning it every which way. Incautiously, she ran a hand over the side of it, accidentally pulling the trigger back and shooting 3 or 4 rounds off. It frightened her terribly.

    "Shit!" she cursed herself.

Anyone, alive or undead, would have heard that. Even if there was a possibility someone who would help her was around, she didn't want to chance staying put and having a walking corpse find her.

Rem scrambled to her feet, hauling the machine gun with her. She ran to the nearest elevator she could find and began to push the button. She leaned against the wall, her heart beating uncontrollably, her hands gripping the gun so tightly they were going ghostly white.

Finally the elevator doors opened. She ran in and began to beat the roof button with the bottom of her fist.

"Up! UP!! Please go up..." she spoke hurriedly as the doors slowly shut.

Once they were closed, she sunk to the floor and sighed heavily.

This one is a little bit more complex. In this particular RP I took up two different characters. I had to as each character was directly dependent on the other to make the storyline work. Since I had no partner to RP either counterpart... I basically ended up RPing with myself. [cough]

    Red = Bloodline Post
    Blue = Crystal Silhouette Post

Granted, it was mostly all me... this was probably one of my favorites, concept-wise.

    Demon RP
He could feel the skull crush between his fingers and his eyes filled with a vicious apathy as he did so. The nerve-wracking shriek from the creature in his grasp would have normally formed a wicked smile on his face. But not this time.

"My Lord Tynan, Laraine has gone. She's escaped the depths of Hell to seek sanctuary on Earth."
Never had such words pierced him so. The wretch deserved to die bringing such news. Though, a quick death was probably far more than he deserved...

His beloved Laraine? Gone? No. This would not do at all. Tynan released his grasp on the creature and the body fell limp to the floor as if it were some ragged doll to be forever abandoned and forgotten. Another lesser demon timidly stepped up to his master, offering a cloth to clean away the blood and mess that stained Tynan's hand. Wordlessly, Tynan accepted it and began to wipe his fingers clean. Pensively, he returned the sullied cloth.

"Laraine, my dear..." he began, a smirk edging onto the corner of his lips, "I am coming for you."

Laraine felt a most uncomfortable shudder run down her spine as she made her way through her new apartment. For some odd reason, Tynan crossed her mind as the cause of it.

She hoped beyond anything that she would be able to keep out of his reach until he grew tired of looking for her. She knew he would become furious to find that she'd gone. But perhaps by the time he grew weary of his search, he would go home and find some new toy to play with.

Laraine let out a shaky sigh as she lifted up the cup of cocoa in her hand, the steam manipulated by her uneasy breath. Looking out towards the window she saw that the city was covered with a placid white blanket of snow. She grimaced at the sight of it. She may or may not have gotten used to the constant heat of Hell, but she never truly liked the cold. But this... This, she believed, was a sacrifice worth making.

Where to start? That was the question indeed. Earth was certainly not that big of a place; not compared to the Eight Hells. And yet, it was still quite ample of places where she could be.

"Aaah, how much easier it would be if I could read your mind, my pet..." Tynan mused aloud as he slid into his skeletal throne, "No matter. You know how I revel in a challenge."

He slouched thoughtfully, a most amused smile decorating his face. Where... to begin. His forefinger lightly tapped his lips as he pondered, his chin resting atop his thumb.

Laraine trusted absolutely no one. She harbored her own secrets and made sure that she would never let anything slip out. Tynan knew his darling Laraine well. Far better than any other. It was easy to tell she had many things to hide from him. Though he knew they were there, she was very good at keeping them from him. This led him to wonder exactly how long she had been planning to leave him for Earth.

Already he missed her at his side. Just the thought of her gone made his heart ache. His lips formed a vicious grin. Such an idea. A devil with heartache. How exquisite.

"I suppose that's it then." he said with a sadistic chuckle, "I shall have to follow my heart."

A human soul, bound to him by choice, bound to Tynan for the sake of his own, looked on to his master in quivering curiosity. If he still had a body of his own, he would have felt his skin crawl at the sound of the devil's boisterous laughter. An awful sound to everyone in the midst of his master's presence. Oh how that human soul felt for Laraine.

To be one who Tynan devoted himself to keep. How awful it would be to stand in her place. His master's eye never relenting, his touch always so close, his breath forever cast upon the flesh. He knew what it was like to be forever owned, but he could hardly imagine being used as she was. There to entertain for his demonic pleasure, helplessly on call to sate his wicked hungers, always chained to his side at arms length to serve as an executioner, jester, and as a woman... or anything else Lord Tynan would so desire for that matter.

"Christian!" the soul froze at the call of his name, "You will accompany me when I go to Earth for Laraine."

Christian bowed low at his master's wish, "Yes My Lord."

"Yes... I will need someone like you." mumbled Tynan, now standing before his throne, hands thoughtfully at his sides as his head was bowed in light of his scheme. Christian would more or less be his Go-fer and messenger. Ghosts and souls, being the same thing, had a much more easier time going back and forth through the seperate worlds. Being bodiless they weren't physically bound to them as the others. If a need ever arose, Christian could be sent back to Hell to call for more of Tynan's servants.

"Alright then!" Tynan sounded with a clap of his hands, "Come, my insufferable soul. We shall prepare to join our Laraine on Earth!"

A violent sneeze took Laraine by surprise as she closed the door to the apartment building behind her.

"Guuh..." she grumbled in the frozen air, "It's so cold!"

She lifted the collar of her coat up and closer to her body as she carefully walked down the icy steps to the snow-laden sidewalk. A small group of children rushed by her as she made her way down the street, kicking up snow and giggling in their bout of merriment.

"Foolish mortals..." she scoffed, "How anyone would be able to find joy in such ridiculous weather is far beyond me."

Mortals? Yes, she thought lowly of them. She was a demon after all. She was stronger, (a bit more vicious as goes with the nature of being what she was,) and much smarter when it came to the... 'supernatural' as they so referred to it as. Though she would rather be Heavenly than birthed of Hell, she much preferred her current state to that of Humanity. Laraine was much more satisfied with the knowledge of the other worlds and beings than living in the dark as the humans did. And how sad that even though they may know, they would have very little power to do much about it. Her strength and power have been her solace... perhaps even her cruelty.

But was she as cruel as her Lord Tynan? Her steps halted. No. She wasn't; she couldn't have been. Everything she'd done was by his order. The death of those at her hand, the tormenting of unfortunate souls eternally damned to the boundaries of Hell until they were to wither away. Everything... It was all Tynan's fault. It was by his power did they fall!

"It wasn't ME!" she screamed aloud, "..It wasn't me..."

Laraine's thoughts wandered and raced, as if she was trying to convince herself that it truly was not her doing. The sound of his voice, the forming of commands on his lips; it all started with Tynan. It was true. But the picture of her smile at every order carried out for him never failed to show itself before her reminiscing eyes. She enjoyed it, nearly every one. Having escaped the grasp of Hell, she could realized that she was a demon... And she embraced it.

A strange epiphany this was. Laraine reached out to lean against a tree trunk. For so long, she couldn't even recall how many centuries she had spent in Hell, but since the day she was born demon, she had wanted to escape. She held a great desire to be let loose of that terrible hole, possibly to become a part of the Heavens that she had so desired from the beginning. But now, now she realized that it was not so any longer. Laraine slid down the tree and sat on the cold concrete ground. She was a demon, and now that she found she embraced her being to the fullest, there was no way to be a part of the Heavens.

Laraine sat quiet for a long while, completely forgetting the cold and never noticing the passersby who gave her strange looks for sitting out in the chilled air. I am what I have become... and shall forever remain so. The thought rang hollow in her mind.

"So be it." She said sternly, "As long as I am my own demon and not some pet for Tynan!"

In this particular RP, I take the role of Captain Kaedan Aladarr and his squad of knights, Ghestin, Rohwik, Tolan, and William. If it's necessary for the story, I'm quite happy to take on several supplemental personas simultaneously. (Say that three times fast.) However, I do keep my main focus on only one. In this case, Kae.

    Private RP
There was a curious blink earned from the intimate looking scene before him as Rohwik stumbled out of the kitchen. With the proximity the two had as well as the mention of marriage, perhaps there was more to Master Atadel and the Lady Mage than they had first thought. Before Rohwik's twisted mind could start turning, a portly lass scooted through the door and danced around him with a tray of food. Suddenly, he was enchanted by the wicked spell of this kitchen imp as she carted to the dining table, her outlandish charm on his stomach easily won over his meddlesome mind. With the reward of food, he immediatly obeyed this entree siren and claimed a seat at the table, his hands knitted neatly together on the table before him. The ever perfect picture of a model son awaiting his morning meal.

Not long after Rohwik poised himself at the table, postured as some royal prince with a board down his back, the others had been led in by the skullery maids sent to fetch them. Passing by, Kae noticed the unusual stiffness in Rohwik's spine and ruffled the brilliant red locks that sprouted from his skull.

"What trouble have you gotten yourself into that's lashed you into such a stated of stoned obedience I could never throw you into?" Smirk.
"Why, Captain..." a hand rested over his heart, a mock look of shock and utter apall at the idea, "I am no cause for concern, Sir! I am a guest in an honorable man's home and I mean to keep my wits about me and welcome such kindness with grace and dignity. What other cause would I have?"

The other men seated themselves in one of many comfortable chairs about the table, a simultaneous dance of eyes accompanying the motion as they all rolled incredulously at how utterly rehearsed Hawk was this morning. Kae, however remained on his feet, making his way to Lord Atadel's side and offering his hand.

"A glorious morning, good Lord." he greeted with a hardy shake, "I've gotten the chance to taken in the full beauty of your home estate and it is most certainly a sight to see. We are indebted to you for your great kindness." His eyes fell to the lady figure seated just near their host, "And as vibrant as the morning sun, a good morning to you as well, My Lady Mage. I do not mean to be one to tear you from such a wonderful hostel, but I hope that you are ready for our departure today?"

The question really wasn't one he expected answered, merely an excuse to speak with Lhurriel a moment longer. Strange, Kaeden found it, how he was finding himself most glad to see her; most especially with the light glow on her cheeks and the shy smile she seemed to wear this morning. He cleared his throat lightly and nodded his head to her before moving to a seat of his own - Mrs. Bertram had returned with several more trays, assisted by kitchen hands of course, and nudged him so.

The covers were lifted and all were washed over by a delighted aroma of breakfast; a medley of omlets to choose from as well as muffins, cakes, and other sweet breads. There were stakes of sausages of many kinds and strips of crispy bacon, cups were filled with tea or a special blend of the Lord's finest coffee. The food seemed endless and comprised of many different treats, some possibly never seen before. Kae suddenly felt as though Corsair had outdone himself and gone a bit overboard for him and his men.

"Figures." William huffed as Rohwik immediately began filling his platter to its edge and stacking even higher with everything he could reach, managing a slick maneuver of snatching whatever was on a passing plate.

With his plate filled completely, Rohwik wasted no time moving the food into his mouth. Pity that didn't stop him from speaking...

"I couldn't.." Swallow. Shovel." Help but overhear..." Swallow. Drink. "Overhear something of a marriage? Are our Lord and Lady to be wed? If so, would we chance an invitation to the ceremony?" ...Shovel.

All eyes fell over to Lhurriel as forks and spoons ceased their scraping, cups slowly set back onto the table, and mouths swallowed the half chewed bite to hear the answer to the sudden, and most unexpected, question.

And here we have a small excerpt from another private RP just to showcase a bit of action I've dipped into. I'm not what you would call very profound in battle-oriented roleplays, but this is what I've gotten into so far. I'm also more than willing to take a stab at it if you'd like. (Hah, see what I did there? "Stab at it?" Oh, I'm so clever. =P)

    Heart of Bushido

Kanaye smiled faintly; Ijichi certainly was smarter than he gave credit for. Even so, this was business and this was no time for friendly chatter. Okano knew the intentions of his opponent, the tactic was one he attempted to use during their last altercation. Ijichi had managed to get him riled once or twice, but he was generally decent at keeping his temper in check. (Although, Akio had pricked a fairly sensitive nerve insulting his honor.)

"As though my reason for being alive would matter to you..." he turned the blade in his hand, a light swish sounding as he adjusted his grip, "I believe it's time we drew this game to a close."

Kanaye brought his daito before him as he took a perfect Chudan stance, both hands wrapped around the handle. As Ijichi drew closer, Kanaye swung his blade to the left, a resounding clash singing with the meeting of their steel. Okano stepped to the right, spinning as he evaded the quick attack, his blade flying back in a smooth river of motion to be drawn down into Akio's flesh. Kanaye suddenly jerked, the flowing momentum in his body ceasing completely. Glancing up at his raised right arm, he saw his wrist encased in the cold metal of a steel chain. Okano glanced over his shoulder just in time to catch sight of an arrow before it tore through his shoulder. He let out a cry of pain as he fell onto one knee, his white kimono quickly fading into a healthy red.

"Okano Kanaye!" the chain yanked at his arm, the pain jolting through his body again, "Your head is ours!"

The voice was heavy and gruff and it belonged to a very large man. Nothing short of six feet and quite heavily built. He was certainly an intimidating figure, a sun-bronzed tone on a pure muscle frame. Kanaye was certain that the man could render his arm right from his body should he feel the want to yank hard enough. There was a second man, standing poised with another arrow knocked on his slender bow. Aimed directly at Kanaye's chest, no doubt. He was a head or two shorter than his bulky companion and quite lanky. Of course, whatever he lacked in physical strength, Okano was certain he made up for in speed and dexterity.

"Damned bounty hunters..." Okano growled under his breath.

He had several run-ins with the like. All of the attempts at his life had failed, however, and those that tried lay dead along his trail. Okano Kanaye had resolved to dying this day, but only at the hands of Akio Ijichi. As he was prepared and finally let his guard down to allow Ijichi the deciding stroke, the bounty trash had managed their own attack at that precise time, throwing everything out of order.

Kanaye twisted his wrist and easily slipped free of the restraint clasped around him. Kicking the chain away, he stood from the ground, reaching behind him and snapping the back of the arrow off through clenched teeth. It had pierced his shoulder totally, however there wasn't enough passed through to pull it out from the front. Kanaye was, unfortunately, going to have to leave it in while he dealt the intrusion.

"I suggest you not intrude any further." the wound bled out further as he gripped the handle tightly, angered by the obstruction of his plans, "I'm in no mood to deal with you sorry excuses."

The scrawny one chuckled wickedly at Okano's words, "I don't believe you have any say, samurai."

The arrow strung into his bow was suddenly airborne and flying directly at Okano's heart. Kanaye growled in frustration as they insisted on making things difficult for him. Very well, Ijichi would just have to wait. In one swift movement, Kanaye swung his sword up diagonally across his chest. There was a soft swish and sharp crack and the arrow fell at his feet in pieces.

"I am growing tired of your interference."

    The End!

    So There it is.
One can play with their own thread as they like, but I'm sure that what I have gets the point across to a certain extent.
Of course, if there are questions that have not been answered the thread provides the freedom for someone reading to simply hit reply and ask. Though, post counts seem to scare away potential players for some reason. At least, they HAD on the old forum.

Thank you for the example, in addition to it being very impressive and cohesive it will certainly come in handy when crafting my own RP Bio.

Great stuff, and I would love to see you in action! We should probably get this thing stickied until more people post up their own bio!

I'd like to post both for further feedback, and because I was recommended to come have a look at this by Chris. I have to say, this is easily one of the most thorough and impressive things I've seen in nearly the last year. It's detailed, reviewed, and shows your experience to a tee.
In an ideal world, this would be something I'd like to see executed and necessary for every RPer at RSF. Wouldn't it be cool to have "resumes" for every RPer, to look to and see their experience, as given by them? On that note, it might also be interesting to let GMs from those RPs post reviews on how the person played, how well they followed the rules, etc. It would help people to look through and see which RPers are most like themselves, and which are interested in the same genres.

However, on a simpler and lighter note, perhaps a smaller scale format would work in lieu:

    Thank you, Doaj. =]

In all honesty, this wasn't really meant to be a stone tablet of how to approach one's own Roleplay CV. Merely an example of what the possibilities are to include in one's own and also to spark some ideas such as yours.

True, shorter and simpler lists would allow a rather cut-to-the-chase read through for those seeking immediate answers. And in a community as small as this one, so much information probably isn't all that necessary.
But I will also say that it was a nice way to keep my fingers busy when I didn't have any RPs to keep up with. Haha. So that's also a factor in there being so much to wade through.

I never quite understood the reasoning behind asking someone to include their screen name when posting this sort of information! Haha. I'm only assuming they mean their forum name as that's the answer almost all give. It's right there on the post. I've always wondered about forums that inquire about it.

On a more serious level, I do like the idea of people posting their experience as a GM. I myself have never been GM of a group RP. When I'm the one in charge, it's almost always in cooperation with a second and in a one to one RP situation. It would be nice for people to know whether someone is seasoned enough to run a larger RP story rather fluidly.

Also in regards to the 'elimination' aspect... I think that it tends to depend on the story rather than a player's preference, no? There are times when a character is not all that influential to the story that they can simply fade away into the background. But when a player's character has become vital, there may be certain methods a GM would need to take in order to keep the story unfaltering to suit those who are remaining.

I will go and grab another 'Player Profile' that is actually much shorter than this one. It's mostly the same as what I've already post it. But it will show the clear and conciseness that I think Doaj is trying to exemplify with his list!

In perfect honesty, I'm rather flexible. I would consider my overall level more in the advanced category, but I would not completely overlook any of the others.

    Preferred Genres
Firstly, let me start off by saying that I take romance as a by-product of any genre. So I don't like to call it a genre itself. Romance can happen anywhere - but that doesn't mean it has to.

As far as genre, though, I'm more prone to actively choose fantasy stories, simply because that's where I'm most comfortable as I've RPed it most. However, I'm open to try anything at all. I've participated in several other genres and am always open to more.

One of the few things I would really rather not do, though, is anything fan-based. I would prefer to leave the canon stories as just that. Also, there's a great possibility that I don't have a darned clue about whatever you want to RP anyway. So, for the sake of not butchering a great piece of fiction and or game, movie, series, etc., I'd rather not.

    Preferred type of play
I've been only doing 1x1s for the passed year or so. But that's simply due to the fact that I've been homeless in regards to forums and have gradually been losing contact with all my RPing mates save two.

But even so, I'm always open to a good group RP. That is, as long as it's not messy and is pretty well-managed. I dig group RPs that have great relationships between the players as well as a great story for the characters to interact and build in.

Also, I don't mind RPing through PMs either.

    Extra information
I think the best thing about RPing in a forum is the fact that replies don't have to be instant. Granted, I hope I don't have to wait for several weeks at a time for a reply to a thread, but I understand that people have other obligations. Because of my line of work, I tend to have incredibly unpredictable hours, so I won't always have the leisure to reply as quickly as I would like. However, I do promise to try to send a flair to my RPing mates should I become caught up in work.

Along the lines of 1x1 RPs, I like to plan things out, naturally. But I love taking an aside and chatting up new twists and discussing future plot points. So I don't think it's absolutely necessary to hammer down every aspect of an RP immediately before it begins.

And a final note, I play either gender when RPing. I'm comfortable in either form when it comes to my characters, so boy or girl, I'm good to go. I'm also open to male x male relationships, however... I'm afraid I'm not into the femme x femme pairs. I'm just not all that comfortable with it - though, don't ask why. I couldn't tell you, but I will tell you I can't help how I feel about it. If that turns you off completely from RPing with me, that's fine.. We aren't obligated to RP with one another. Best of luck on the rest of your search.

You can PM if you like.. But I won't promise you'll get an immediate answer - if any.
I don't accept random friend requests. Nothing against you - I just don't friend people I don't know / have never talked to. If you want to be friends, try sending me a message or catch me in a thread and have a chat first, hm? I think it's just better all ways around, wouldn't you agree?

The bold lists are what was recommended one answer in their post. The status list was just something I added on my own for the sake of having the ability to keep track of where I'm spreading myself out. It serves the same purpose as the very first post and the list there.
