    .hack

Alright, I think everyone has at least watched some of the .hack//SIGN anime, but I, like most others, weren't aware of the game series.

I've managed to play .hack//G.U. which was more or less an unrelated sequel series to the first series of .hack games. Also, I know there's some kind of PSP .hack cross over game being worked on, so that's some recent info.

So I figure there's discussion on the .hack 4 part series, the .hack//G.U. series, and the stand alone game being made. There's probably other games, but I dunno...

Also! There was a movie version of the .hack//G.U. series made called .hack//G.U. trilogy. Aside from the awesome graphics, I didn't really like it myself, but that's another possible discussion...maybe...

Also there are the manga and animes to discuss. Maybe even novels, but I'm not really informed about those *shrugs*
Hi, sorry about my lacking presence at RSF. I got busy with my off-line life, and though it's settled a bit, there's not much to do here without people posting (which is kind of my fault >.<)

    Re: .hack

Ah, yeah! Something about these series that should be noted is that they all flow into one another

It starts out in .hack//Sign the anime and it goes into the .hack// quartet game series because Sign starts bringing in the 8 waves with the main character being able to summon one. After this they have another anime, .hack// legend of the twilight bracer which lands the character sprites from the first game series as characters for these two twins. This is where I think the cross-over for the PSP is going to fit in because it then goes into .hack//Roots, another anime series that gives the beginning story for Haseo and his friends in the Twilight Brigade, which is a major part in the game trilogy .hack//G.U.

Alot of the manga can stand alone or simply go over the events which happened in the games.

And yes, I am a major fan of the series ^_^ Its all pretty awesome, to me and has a great storyline. :3 Though, if you miss alot, you land up getting lost x_x

Ha ha. I guess I'm the weirdo.
I first learned of the series from the Legend of the Twilight manga, then its anime adaption, then the games.
I still had never heard of the SIGN anime until now.

    Re: .hack

I've only played the .Hack Outbreak series. i just have to finish the last one, but i never seem to get a chance to either find it or have it become available on gamefly.

Personally after .Hack Infection (first game) the game got rediculously easy. First Games Boss of the Game was insane. i was almost that max level and i still was having trouble beating it. After that the games bosses got easy. I still want to watch the entire series one day, but can't seem to find the drive to sit down for 4 days....
Weakness is just weakness leaving the body.

-Cody Matthews. (first time i looked at it i just laughed. then i looked again and realized it was actually pretty great.)

    Re: .hack

I love .Hack// but I get annoyed sometimes because they never bothered releasing .Hack//G.U. over here despite me waiting for 3 years.

    Poor show Namco, poor show.

Despite that I found the spinoff manga "Legend of the Twilight" surprisingly well done although the whole Aura's kid thing REALLY freaked me out...I mean who the hell is the father? Not to mention why is she trying to get into a 13 year old kid?

I havn't yet got around to watching the .Hack//G.U. CGI movie but it seems alright despite being obviously too short to explain the details of the expansive anime and games.

My favourite things about the series is it's abilities to stretch over all mediums, to be the only offline recreation of an MMORPG and best of all to be the first big series of RPG games to allow full save game porting over the course of 4 games.

My criticisms however are the fact that gameplay can be stupidly repeditive (especially in the first series) and the characters are needlessly secretive and mysterious without much reason, therefore stretching out the story longer than it needs to be.

    Re: .hack

I have the 4 part game series as well as the first print .hack//GU Volume 1 that came with the figure. I love how they each came with an OVA; game me a reward for finishing the games. ^^

About that spoiler, Ackbar (whoever you really are), it's very simple.
She's computer data. Sex really isn't a requirement.

Dude theres a username history for a reason.

Also I find the virtual reality thing a massive deus ex machina copout which doesn't really contribute anything to the story.

I don't get your point. It's a fundamental part of the plot. :/

Yet you took the time to ask me who I was.

What I meant was by the very nature of it as a deus ex machina, it could be used to easily shoo away any irregularity or illogical misstep on the behalf of the writers.

Also the "doesn't really contribute anything to the story" part was aimed at the whole Aura's daughter thing and how she tries to get it on with Kite2.0 in a most uncomfortable fashion

Too lazy to click to another page, not too lazy to ask.

Well, yes. But that's like saying that the Force is stupid because it fixes 90% of problems with Star Wars.

    Re: .hack

I got into .hack through the game Infection. I was looking forward to playing all four games but I never got around to finishing it because I worked so hard to level up and then my file got deleted. I wasted hours of my life on that one file. T^T

After that I started to pick up the Legend of Twilight manga and various novels. Then moved on to the //Twilight anime. Ryvius recently gave me two //Sign dvds which I haven't watched knowing that i'm going to get sucked in and want more.
