    Utada Hikaru?!?1

There's no thread or mentioning's of Utada? Does no-one like her? Has anyone heard of her?

She's pretty much my favourite artist, for anything. I haven't hated any of her songs, they have all been awesome.

BORKED Yeah, main song to KH2 I believe, I don't like the game. But love the song ^^:

    BORKED

My favourite song of all time by her!

I love Kingdom Hearts, so I found out about her through that. I think Utada has a great voice and she does amazingly well in English as well as Japanese. Of course I love "Simple and Clean" ("Hikari") and "Passion" as well ("Sanctuary" isn't bad, but meh, I liked the Japanese lyrics more *shrugs*).

I also remember this one English song she did. I think it was "Animato" or something to that effect. Really whimsical lyrics and the music was awesome.

I admit I haven't been really keeping up with her, but she's definitely become one of my fave J-Pop artists ^^
Hi, sorry about my lacking presence at RSF. I got busy with my off-line life, and though it's settled a bit, there's not much to do here without people posting (which is kind of my fault >.<)

I don't think it's that people dislike Utada Hikaru, I think we just forgot about it since she's popular. xD

She's pretty and has a nice voice, but I'm not big on J-Pop. I will say that I love her for one reason and one reason only:

That movie is perhaps one of the most visually stunning and surprisingly powerful Japanese films I've ever seen. Her husband at the time was the director, and she invested her own money into it, as well as did the theme song for it.

The way the thread was named I was under the impression that Utada Hikaru had died or something. My chest started pounding. LOL.

The first time I had heard of her was, of course, the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack, which I fell in love with. Sadly, though, I haven't checked out her stuff beyond what I heard on the soundtrack (and maybe a song she performed with Pharrell Williams), but I think I should probably give some of her other stuff a chance. *Nod, nod.*

I don't know this singer, but Kendra reminded me that I wanted to see that movie. I saw clips from it edit into a Protomen music video, and I've wanted to see it. I've never played Kingdom Hearts, but after I see the movie I'll get back to you guys on how I like Miss Utada.

I'm not a huge fan, but she's talented. My girlfriend really likes her. I don't have anything too recent from her...like, flavor of life and the stuff before that. I will say that Exodus was a pretty lousy album.

Omg! This totally reminds me that she will have a mini concert here in Hawaii. I was planning to go but ALL the tickets were sold out. I was sooo devastated. :-(

She is one of my favorite artist. Like everyone else, I fell in love with her theme for Kingdom Hearts.

As for her Exodus album, I actually love it despite everyone's hatred towards it. Have anyone listened to her new English album, The is the One? I thought it is pretty decent.

I agree with Fuyumine, the title scared me a bit. HAha

I think the exodus album is mediocre at best. I think a large part of the reason people don't like it is poor lyrics. I guess with her Japanese stuff, I don't understand most of what she's saying so lyrics aren't as important. Plus, if her albums were normally at that level it would be one thing, but her other albums are very good. So an "okay" album from her just seems bad.

I haven't heard the new English album, I'll have to youtube it later.

I grew to like her after the Kingdom Hearts games, but even though I love the themes for both the games, I started to like her other songs more then them. She has a very nice voice and I feel that even if her lyrics are in Japanese they still convey a lot of emotion. So it doesn't matter what she's saying, you still can feel what she's trying to get across, at least that's what I think
It's painful, the pain has already broken the illusion of our hopes and dreams
On the line between reality and ideals
It hurts, the pain has already brought to mind traces from the corners of our hearts
Of the reality we took on on that day

I'm a big Utada fan. I definitly don't think Exodus was all that great. I love all her other stuff but Exodus didn't do it for me. i'll still check out her new album thought.

I do have to agree that it was not as great compared go her other albums. It did sound like she was experimenting. But after listening to it a few times, it sort of grew on me.

But her new English album is not as "weird". X-D
