Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please? I have a very important announcement to make.

The RPContest

I am pleased to inform you that as of today, a new contest graces the Rising Star Forums. We hope to see many contestants roleplay it out against eachother. All in a good-natured and peaceful way, of course.

Facts about the RPC

The Guidelines Thread

Guidelines for new RPCs are to be posted every other week (biweekly) by a member of staff. In the guidelines threads you will be able to find the criteria for the next RPC. These criteria will include:

  • Theme
  • Word limit
  • Deadline for entry submission
  • Any additional rules

The guidelines for the next RPC are to stay up for two weeks (14 days). When this time has passed, a poll will be created that contains all accepted submissions. The poll is to be posted by the same member of staff who created the Guidelines thread. Entries are to be sent to that same member of staff through PM. When the deadline has passed, no more submissions will be accepted into the contest.

The Voting Thread

The Polling thread will be made when the deadline has passed (every 14 days) by a member of staff. This poll will contain all the entries and you, the public, will be able to vote for your favourite entry. The entry with the most votes after 14 days will be declared winner. The maker of the winning entry will receive +rep. When the poll is posted, the Guidelines thread will be archived. The voting thread of the previous RPC and the guidelines thread of a next RPC will always be open at the same time.

How to Enter

Yes, it really is as simple as you suspect it is.

  • You create an entry that corresponds with the criteria in the Guidelines thread. Any entries that do not follow these criteria, will not be entered. You will receive notification by PM when this is the case. You will also be notified when your entry is accepted. You can re-enter just as long as it takes to get your entry accepted, until the deadline is up.
  • You submit your entry by PM to the member of staff who posted the Guidelines thread. Please make the subject of this PM 'RPC #[number] Entry' to ensure it is not forgotten.

How to Vote

  • When the Voting thread is created, you can cast your vote on your favourite entry. The Voting thread will be up for 14 days.
  • Contestants are allowed to vote in the contest, but not on their own entry. Voting for your own entry = disqualification.
  • Everyone is encouraged to vote.
  • While it is not mandatory to comment in voting threads, it is encouraged to let people know what you think of the entries, and possibly post constructive criticism.
  • Your post will not be counted if it is considered to be non-contributory or rude/offensive. Examples of this are "I didn't read them, but I liked the first sentence of #1" and "I didn't like any of them, so I closed my eyes and tossed a coin."

In the Event of a Tie...

...A second poll will be made that will stay up for 24 hours. This secondary voting thread will only contain the two tied entries.
