So for those who don't know, I work at a Pizzeria. I was on the phone last night, taking an order. The man says, "I only live a few blocks away, but we wanna order delivery because we don't wanna stop playing 360." Being excited that I can have a brief conversation with someone who plays games, I respond, "Oh, that's awesome. Good reason to." However, before I can ask any questions like what game is he playing, he continues with, "I fix 360s for a living, so I don't even have to own one. I can hop from 360 to 360 and play through games that way."
"Wait- you fix 360s? How much do you charge?"
"Normally $50, but this week only I've been charging $30."
HOLY SHIT YES. $30 is sweet. I tell him I'm going to call him from home and talk to him about it on the morrow, and he's stoked 'cause he got business, and I gave him like $6 off on his pizza.
I call him today, he tells me he's got time, and I go up there. We sit down at his kitchen table while he dismantles my 360 piece-by-piece. It would have been more traumatic had it worked in the past six months.
The whole time (my 360 was modded, mind you) he's commenting about the job the other person did on it. "They used this?!" He would ask, outraged. And then he finds himself a revelation. That the person who modded my xbox also modded another customer's off his. Unfortunately, something inside of theirs got really warped and bowed because they messed up the way it deals with heat. They did the same to mine, but it stopped working before it got warped, so mine was saved, while the other guy (who had apparently been hanging out with him for three days while he waited for his xbox to get fixed) simply drooled over my elite, which was done in an hour and a half. We tried it out with Wolfenstein, not my first choice of a game, but it was an interesting FPS regardless. The point was:
IT WORKED. Also, I got along really well with him and the other customer, and he got all fanboy on me and put in a really nice fan so that I could leave my 360 on for a week straight and not have to worry about it overheating. Not only was that the cheapest we've found, but we have a six month warranty, and he let me borrow Viva Pinata, which I've been wanting to play (Lucky me, it was his ONLY game).
But yah. Our 360 works. Not sure if live will work since it's modded, but either way, we can play our games again. =DDD Happy happy, joy joy.
